Hi

Odd question, I have to purchase a new lap top before I relocate to the island.  Before I do  I would like to find out what tech are supported / repaired / spares on the island.  For PC not Apple.   Dell or Acer or HP or ?

Thank you

Natasha

Greetings

Do inform them about your international warranty when buying, you will have genuine companies who represent the mentioned brand who will cover your demand.

I don't think you will have to look for them though as it will be a brand new device

Thank you, Dell for one have mentioned hugh expense to courier spares if requied... hence I an interested to hear which brands are best supportedon the island?  Do you have a company there that one would go to to buy tech / get repairs done / upgrades?  The most well known largest on the company?  Not a family repairs shop on the corner as it were...

Hi Tash,

Galaxy, a consumer electronics chain with 20 branches throughout Mauritius (the latest of which is in the new Coeur Cap Tamarin Shopping Centre), sells several brands of laptops (see below)

- I guess it is for you to weigh up the higher price of buying your notebook in Mauritius and having a local warranty vs. the price to buy it in South Africa, but getting a warranty that is valid in SA only.

see the Galaxy website here:
https://www.galaxy.mu/product-category/ … notebooks/

they stock notebooks from:
Acer
Apple
Asus
Dell
HP
Huawei
MSI

Galaxy says the following on their Customer Service page:

Returns
Goods once sold are not exchangeable and non-refundable.
You are required to check the condition and conformity of the products delivered at the time of delivery/collection, i.e. before you sign the delivery/collection slip.
If the customer notes that the delivery box is not sealed or is damage or the products are not as ordered upon delivery or collection, the customer should not take delivery and informed the carrier or agent at collection point for replacement.
Once delivery has been made, we will not be liable for any breakages, nonconformity or shortages of the products ordered.

Warranty
Unless otherwise expressly stated, the warranty period to the product shall be one year from date of purchase.
The terms of warranty shall be subject to the conditions stated on the warranty certificate of each specific product purchased.
Customer should ensure that he receives a warranty certificate upon delivery / collection of each specific product.

Hi Natasha,

I can definitely recommend Fjariltech (https://www.fjariltech.com). They are the distributor of many brands on the island. Their prices are the most competitive I have found so far and their after sale service top notch.

I've bought all kinds of PC components from them and highly recommend them. Even when I was unlucky to fall on a faulty from factory component, they exchanged it for a brand new one on the next day. Something most big companies will never do in Mauritius.
