Three weeks I suggest new topics for sticky notes that went by the wayside along with other good suggestions by members of this forum.

Forum managers responded with sticky a note: Please try search by category directly above.

If you do that directly above is: sticky notes of Cost of Living and New Members Introduce Yourself.

Well I'll try again with a suggestion  of a new sticky note category: Cost of Prescription Medicine.

It seems most of the Expats here are in the Senior portion of our life. Not surprising most of us take the same prescription medications because of being seniors. I think it would be useful and beneficial to compare prices and pharmacies for the best prices. I think all of us would like to save Money on our prescriptions.

For example I take:

Isosorbide (management of angina)
Glipizide (controls blood sugar)
Clopidogrel (lower risk of heart attack o0r stroke)
Metroprolol (blood pressure)
Fozal/Alfuzosin Hydrochloride (improve urination for enlarged prostrate)
Astorvastatin (lowers cholesterol)
Nitrostat (treats angina)

I have not kept current with the cost of my prescriptions, if there is any interest, I will post them the next time after looking at the receipt.

Other expensive things for two of my family members is insulin and test strips. I would like to save money on these.

Yes, please post the prices.

Actually I think if one goes to the Mercury Drug website they can search for the cost of each piece of drug and go from there...

I went to the Mercury Drug website, there is no way to do a search. The webpage says for price and availability  call, post message on FB or send email.

Mercury is not the only player in legit Pharmacies, other Pharmacies: Rose, Watsons and The Genererics Pharmacy from memory.

My stepson visits several Pharmacies in order to get the best price and selection. Selection: some pharmacies do not carry enough stock, I like to order two or three months supply at a time. Some Pharmacies do not carry the right dose, size and shape vary between different drug manufacturers.

Not at all, a complete waste of time.

I'm not interested in the acquisition cost, most is in the quantity of thousands, unless I'm going to open a chain of Pharmacies.

Keep trying?

Bob said he would post the prices so I asked. The Mercury and Government websites are useless.

Yes, FoFaBo. . . .In the beginning, several years ago I would look at the receipts and figure out the cost per bill. My stepson works at the mall and runs all the prescription for myself, wife & himself. At one time he had to visit several different Pharmacies to get the best price. Also some Pharmacies was cash only and some would accept plastic, some were choosy about the plastic, so I had  my CC company issue a card in his name on my account.

So in the terms of making it simple for him we do get most of our prescriptions at Mercury. I've became  use to seeing a paper bag with our scripts (mine, wife & his) and just throw the receipt away.

On his next Pharmacy run I'll post the med and the cost per pill. It seems all us old guys use the similar prescriptions but under different brand names.

But I'm really interested in the price that anyone pays for insulin and test scripts, I don't use either but my Wife and Stepson do. So when I pay the cc bill for hundreds of dollars, I'm thinking there has to be a better deal somewhere on these.

A cost factor in Phils is they use many generic meds  (= cheaper replacements  produced by other than the patent holder). After patent has expired.  It wouldnt suprice me if they have  copies before the patemt has expired too   :)
