Should I add the collision insurance when reserving a car rental online? They say is $11 per day. Or will I need to buy another insurance when I pick up the car?
I keep reading reviews that they try to charge, sometimes more than the car rental, for insurance when picking it up.
Santo domingo airport.

Any input is greatly appreciated. 😊

I know someone will be mad if the insurance is more expensive than the car😜.

Oh, yeah.  They do like to "surprise" tourists with usurious insurance rates that are required, or you don't get the car.

The problem is worse during high season, over the winter.  All the cars are reserved or taken, so you do it their way or take a cab.  (Uber can't legally pick you up at SDQ, BTW.)

During the summer, not so bad.  Lots of cars available, so they need you to rent their car.  If you're firm at not accepting the insurance, insisting your existing coverage and credit cards cover the need, AND indicate willingness to go to another rental agency, they'll fold.  But, you'll probably have to insist for 30+ minutes!!

Best of luck.

Anyone would be.  That is not the way to do business.  They should be transparent with the price.
