Crossing US border with Mexican plates

YawningLion

Hello All,

I just purchased a vehicle here in MX and I plan to drive to the US.  We could only put one person on the title, so I put my spouse, who is a Mexican citizen.

Thing is, I am driving to the US with the vehicle, but she can't cross the border.  Will they let me in even though my name is not on the title?

Hi there, as far as I remember when I called the CBP, land crossings aren´t permitted to non-us citizens or residents. Only Permanent Residents and US Citizens are allowed to cross the border.

In terms of crossing with the car, it MAY be permitted if you show the proper paperwork that you are married to the owner of the car. But best to confirm with US gov agencies.
