Hello from Nepal!

Followin Julien advise, let me introduce myself,

My name, on the web, is Zapata. My real name is non-important. I am working in Nepal since May05 and i will stay here until may07, end of contract.

I am basque, from the same hometown as Manu Chao's mum, Bilbao. I left Bilbao 14 years ago, i lived 9 years in london (all over the place but mainly east london, Hackney and around). Then i moved to colombia, i worked on human rights for a year. Then i got a job in Bilbao, where i stay two more years working for the NGO of a trade Union. And as soon as i finished my projects there i moved to Nepal with a another NGO.

And here i am, trying to understand the revolutionary process that is taking place here; the characteristics of the nepalese social movement; trying to measure their possibilities for success and figuring out what part of the nepalese recipe could be exported to other parts of the planet for the empowerment of the monetary-poor (much richer in so many other senses) in their struggles for dignity, land and freedom.

Be Good!

Hi Zapata!

I'm so glad to read a post from fellow expat in Nepal.  I'm based in Kathmandu and It's only been a week since my arrival.  Since you've been here since May05 hope you wont mind me asking about where to go and how to get around the capital. I'll do that later though, meantime I'll enjoy discovering the city on my own.  Being lost and clueless, i suppose, is part of the package ;)

Regards

-To answer Julien's question, the local people speak English and the local foods are actually similar to some Indian dishes.  Some are too spicy for my liking but very tasty.

Hello everyone!

I'm new on the forum. My partner and I just moved to Nepal 4 months ago, and we're still discovering Kathmandu! Very intersting, lots of contrasts!!

Is there anyone from Nepal?

Christine.

Julien

Welcome Christine! I hope you're having fun in Nepal :)
