Relocating to Nicaragua

Post new topic

Hi,

I am to relocate from Vietnam to Nicaragua.

Which is the best beach town for a calm, low-cost living. Safety as to both diseases and crime, smooth water for swimming preferred.

I don't have regular income but a bank account over a few years' of the required pension. Do they accept it for retirement status? Or can I leave and return for another 90 days unlimited times?

And one more question if I may. What is the advantage of Nicaragua over Mexico?

Thanks a lot.

@gyorgy You are able  to leave Nicaragua every 90 days by simply crossing the border at Honduras or Costa RIca. Upon return you would receive another 90 day visa. To avoid this you can apply for residency and show a monthly income of $1000 per month. There are many beaches that are calm for swimming. You need to come here to see the areas you prefer to live. The biggest town on the coast is San Juan Del Sur in southern Nicaragua. From here you can learn about the other areas to explore and possible live.

Thanks. Is there no time limit, or number of occasions, how long I need to stay out of Nicaragua to return and get another 90 days, or how many consecutive times can I do this?

Nicaragua immigration is starting to frown on long term border crossers. I would seek the services of an immigration visa lawyer to help with the process of obtaining residency to avoid the hassle and expense of border crossings every 90 days and monthly trips to their local offices. My wife and I have our residency and can recommend the lawyer we used if you want it.

Yes, that is the right way if you qualify. However, for that you need to prove a sufficient regular income, which I can't. I asked the immigration office if they accept a solid bank account instead but they said no.

Ok looks like you will need to cross the border every 90 days then. Good Luck.

Can someone tell me about the possibilities of obtaining a residence permit in Nicaragua? Thanks.

The basic residency requirements are for you to have a source of income of $1000 USD per month. A clean criminal record. (Police background check) and a blood test to test for communicable diease (can be performed in Nicaragua). My wife and I used the services of an Immigration Attorney here in Nicaragau. He is well versed in obtaining residency here for you if you want his contact info. Send me a private message.
