Hi all,
Hope someone can help me. I'm desperate!

I have been working and living in Malaysia for the past 8 years. I need to urgently leave Malaysia due to family member loss back home in Macedonia.
However, I only have my approval letter from mdec, and they are not able to stamp my passport (endorsement pass) as they are closed. I have heard they will start issuing passes only from September.

I would like to know if anyone has any information, if i can leave the  country with the approval letter and come back, have any contact number or any other helpful information?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Ana ,

Yes you can leave Malaysia without exit permission as you are not Malaysian.
If your company support or may be by yourself , you can apply single entry based on your mdec approval and after coming back you can stamp your EP. It will be same process like first time you joined a company here.

Regarding return , it is very uncertain. Bcz of covid there are restriction on different countries , you need to apply RETURN permission from DJIM and you need some company info from you HR to apply . If approved ,then only it is possible to come back. Some ppl getting it easily while some are not.
But yes it might be difficult to return in short time.

thank you sooo much for the information provided. At least i got some hope.

The only thing which worries me, is that since i m waiting for 2 months already, my current pass has expired. So not sure if immigration will cause me any problem, although i have my approval letter.

Trying to contact expats center...but they all "work" from home...

Thank you for your kind recommendation!

Hi Gordonawrk,

Yes you can exit without permission from DGIM and you can apply for MyEntry when you need to return.

Nevertheless, since your current pass has expired, you might encounter problem in exiting. But do reach out to me at 0125083182 so that I can get more information from you to check for your current situation.

Thank you for your help once again. I truly appreciate it.
I just heard from MDEC with more specific instructions, that they have urgent application process (took them a while to share this)...i need to provide some additional documents, including a flight ticket.

Will update here on the progress.
