I have been communicating with a Filipino woman for 17 months. We started just before corona virus hit and it has been impossible for me to go and meet her.
She has been good for over 14 months not asking for anything, but in the last 3 months has not had any work. In the last month she had had a medical issue and Is asking me to pay. I did send money for a doctor's appointment because I was worried it was serious. We found out it was not serious . But she is asking for money to pay follow up appointments and medicine. I don't want to pay her ongoing medical expenses. As I have not met her I don't feel responsible for her health care.
This has raised concerns about her intentions towards me.
I know she is real because of the countless video calls we have had.
Sorry to say but her being real doesn't mean you're not getting scammed. There isn't any circumstances you should send money to someone you haven't met with the sole exception possibly being small amounts for data/phone calls so it doesn't cost her anything to chat with you online. Beyond that, you have to question the motive

Yes. . . See my other post.
Video calls can be manipulated! I have a case like yours, a guy from Spain who was con out of his money through a video conference
even showing in this case the father was in St. Luke's hospital attached to a life support;
For one she just known you;

Oh buy. What's wrong with the girls in New Zealand???
14 months you say (thats a very long time) she did not get anything thus far & you say you feel that she is the real thing.
These medical appointments how much do they cost since its not serious?
Also try to get details of the hospital she's visiting / speak to her doctor if possible.
Good luck.
(omo)
Doctor visits should be 300 to 500 pesos here. Family emergencies are always a red flag, especially when somebody dies several times and funeral expenses need to be covered.
She is Playing you, the Filipina are very good with this, after getting used by men here. Do not send any money, tell her when we meet ( you) I will help you but not until then .

Hardly vulgar
Sounds like you have all the answers
Whenever I am asked for money, I ask for details. I mean all 'details'. Since I am paying, I need to know what I am paying for and decide if I will support such. If a question of trust is asked, I ask the same. I must admit it is easier said than done.

Huh? My question about New Zealand girls is vulgar????
Think it might be because you said "Oh buy" when we all know you meant "Oh boy"
Oh, I did. Damn spellchecker. Hahaha Oh boy could be considered to be racist. It's hard to keep up with political correctness. Hahaha

@FortuneFavorsTheBold,
It wasn't your question that was vulgar. It was Enzyte Bob's response to your question that was vulgar as per the moderator.

I'm glad you said as per the moderator, apparently there is a difference of what is acceptable in "Mauritius" and the western world.
If I was in "Mauritius" I could apply for the Certificate of Character which replaced The Morality Certificate.

If it's real then it's real! If you have reservations then I question how real the relationship is even if it is 17 months old.
Only you know the answer to that. Best of luck. Fortune favors the bold!
Why is it when I put a linc it automatically Under review
Moderator why do you do this? and do you ever review it? NOT

Best of luck with what? Maybe you are confusing me with somebody else?

I have not met or spoken to the woman you are describing. So, I cannot tell you if she's the real deal or if she's just using you. I would suggest that you trust your instincts. Many years ago when I was still single, I had an online relationship with an Asian guy. He actually visited me in the Philippines. But I started to have doubts about his intentions. I stepped back, took a hiatus from the relationship. And eventually, I broke it off. I'm not saying that you break off your relationship with your Filipina friend. Just step back, breathe, and think.
During the pandemic, many Filipinos lost their jobs or had a reduction in their days of work. If you want to help your friend, it is up to you. Helping others makes me feel better or good about myself, but I help only to the point where I feel comfortable in giving. With regards to your Filipina friend's medical expenses, how much was the doctor's fee, blood / lab work, medication? Doctor visits cost on average PhP500-800 pesos (roughly US$10-18 depending on the exchange rate). It's not much. But, how does it make you feel when you give her money to pay for medical expenses? If you've reached the point where you feel uncomfortable about giving more, just stop, and be honest with your friend.
I actually wasn't referencing you at all.....sorry. Ironic that my final words of encouragement for the topic at hand happened to be your user name. I was simply addressing the topic and encouraging the gentlemen to be more bold in determining whether his relationship of 17 months was real or not.

I too found your response to fortunefavorsthebold's question about New Zealand women vulgar. It's good that the moderators removed it.

I missed his remark. Not surprising in light of all the rude comments made about the girl looking for a boyfriend and trying to sell her products. I think her name is MaryAnn.
