6 month stay

Post new topic

Hi

We are thinking of coming to Mauritius in October for 6 months with a view to staying longer if we like it.
We have never been so would like to ask a good part to be in. We love the sea not into nightclubs etc but like a nice restaurant.
Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Welcome Major Tom,

Many Expats live either in the North-East (Grand Baie / Pèreybère area) which is busy, has nightclubs, restaurants, shops, and many tourists (when not in lockdown of course); or in the West (Tamarin / Black River area) which is a little more laid-back although all the necessary groceries are available in shopping centres nearby, and there are fast-food outlets and some good restaurants.

I am guessing from what you say that you will enjoy the Black River area more because it is a little quieter than Grand Baie.

take a look at a selection of rental properties here:

and properties for sale here:
NOTE properties from USD 375 000 (roughly 16 Million Rupees) qualify you for a Residence Permit

Hi, I would also recommend Flic en Flac in the West.
Close proximity to nice long beach, all the amenities, enough restaurants of variety of cuisines and more accessible to the bigger towns.

Good luck!
