This covers the agents time and transportation and cuts down the non serious visitors. They will not waive it. Rent nothing You have not seen. Everything here is an as is rental the day You take it. You often have to purchase your won stove, refrigerator, hot water tank, and air conditioner splits. You need 5 months rent upfront. It is customary to pay 2 months rent, 2 months security deposit and an agent fee equal to 1month. They will not reduce the agent fee. It is shared with every person involved in advertising and getting a space rented. Commercial rentals charge 3 months rent upfront. Some charge in the same way as residential, but customary is 3 months. If you are not sure about where in Abidjan you want to stay choose a short term furnished rental. If you don't plan to stay more than a year, consider paying more for a place with everything installed (air, hot water, stove, fridge) OR negotiate free rent equal to the cost of these items upfront.
