There is no argument that the Chinese have taken many of the western technology. In fact, the Chinese government requires companies to share the product manuals if they want to do business in China and tap into the 1 billion customer base.
Chinese took the technology and did not sit on their hands.
I disagree that they don’t have talent. Learning and progressing in not tied to a certain race, gender or ethnicity. Anyone given the right environment and dedication can succeed at it.
Just before the pandemic, I visited Harvard and MIT as my son was deciding which school to attend. I was shocked by the number of Asian students there especially Chinese. These students are not there to play checkers. They will go back to China and further the progress.
I feel the US government in the last few decades was thinking let the Chinese have all the technology they want, what can they do with it anyway. Until recently when the US start noticing the stride China is taking.

You are missing the point of the discussion. No one have said that China does not have talent. Actually they do and they utilize it very well. They hack, copy and steal western technology. They re-packaged the products in violation of intellectual properties because there is no government protection for intellectual properties and they send it over and sell it to you. Western companies have hardly any protection in Chinese court.
So please don’t repackage your Opinion about China a racist idea. Nobody being racist here.
For all these Chinese student that you saw at Harvard and MIT are you aware that there tuition it’s paid directly from Beijing by the Chinese government based on negotiating discount. The student family is only responsible for their kid living expenses. So I guarantee you if your son go to these universities and he is a citizen will pay higher tuition than the Chinese student. Can you find a list of any new technology and products that China produced from scratch?  Not including my favorite Chinese green tea, fine China Dishware, Silk or herbal medicine…etc. China block many western products  from being utilized or sold in China even when they put high duty on them. No Facebook, no WhatsApp, no Google, no YouTube…etc. Not even some of their great history of the emperors and the good and the bad adventurist and Warrior who went across the world are not taught in their school like Genghis Khan (crazy war Mongolian) , The Yellow Emperor also known as Huangdi Who started the Chinese culture, Zheng He Who build the greatest wooden ships and his "Treasure Fleet" was destroyed by the communist party in 1525 simply because he was a Chinese Muslim who opened China for international trade. Well educated Chinese don’t even know who are these guys because the government don’t want them to know.
