Hello all, nice to e-meet you

Anne Marie66

My name is Anne, a digital nomad and world traveler who has decided to move to Nicaragua soon.
Can anyone tell me the current state of entry requirements coming from Europe?
If possible, is there a website in English where I can read it all?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day/weekend!

Anne,
The current requirement is that you have a PCR_RT covid test performed within 72 hours prior to entry. The option to fly directly to Managua is there but most people fly to Liberia Costa Rica and cross the southern border to Nicaragua. The airlines serving Managua (Avianca, Copa and AeroMexico) are not convenient from Europe. You will be much better off flying to Liberia Costa Rica take a bus or cab to the border, cross and take another cab or bus to your destination in Nicaragua.

I know several good taxi drivers in Nicaragua who could pick you up at the border. There are also companies with vehicles in both countries that pick you up at the airport drive you to the border and have another person in Nicaragua take you to your destination in Nicaragua.

I live in SJDS with my wife and have contacts for these services. You can also research on FACEBOOK and type in San Juan del sur and find multiple Expat groups with travel, taxi information. When are you planning on coming to Nicaragua?  What part of the country are you planning to locate too? Feel free to contact me for any additional information.

I also want to mention if you go through Costa Rica that you have  to have a covid shot vaccination record or you will need to purchase a short term 5 day health insurance policy. If you have record of the Covid shot no insurance is required. Let me know if you need anymore info.

Hi! My girlfriend and I will be in Nica the 22nd coming from cancun. Could you help us get from cancun to SJDS? The flight seemed kind of ridiculous so we opted for a cheaper route. Any help is appreciated! Thanks 😊

Supeman

Mika,

What airport are you flying to and airline?

Mika,

I would fly the Volaris non stop to San Jose Costa Rica flight spend the night and get a early start by bus or shuttle to the border. Otherwise all I see are 12 hour layovers at different airports. This is a cheap flight but you would need to pay a one night hotel stay. They are a lot of decent priced hotels near SJO airport.

We will be leaving Ohio via Southwest airline

Supeman

Which airport Liberia or SJO?

Mika Mikachu Meeks

We actually fly in from cancun mexico to Managua

Hi Glenn,

Thanks for your reply, it's very helpful.
May I ask you where you're from and how long you already live in SJDS?
And why is traveling through Mexico difficult, in your opinion?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings,
Anne
