Post new topic

Rockstar82

Hey guys, my name is Bart and I'm a dutch dude, 23 yrs old.. Marketer, adventurist and people person. My hobbies are meeting people, fitness, climbing, traveling (of course) and im a big movie buff.

I lived in Spain, Murcia for half a year last year and this year I lived in Newcastle, UK.

I'm planning of working abroad the next couple of years and this is why I thought joining you guys would be a good idea. My ultimate goal is to get a marketing job in the US, and live there...although I would have to do a lot of networking before I get that one done.

So for anyone planning to come to the Netherlands, Spain or UK I should be of help, don't hessitate to ask me.

Julien

Welcome Bart!

I looove Murcia, I went there several times when I was a child :)

Where in the US would you like to set up your business?

Have a nice day,

Julien

Murcia is great isn't it? I worked on a golf resort there and it was awesome.

I do have my own business in online marketing but my primary goal is to get a marketing job with a US based company. I was thinking of San Francisco (prefered), LA or NY. Do you have any tips for me?

About Murcia, I remember "el entierro de la sardinya" and "la semana santa" ... wow I really liked the ambiance, so many people in the streets :)

I would love to help you but I have no experience in the US. I hope someone else here will be able to help you if you ask the right questions ;)

Hey Bart,

Another Dutchman here :)

Getting a job in the USA isn't really easy. The main problem will be getting a work permit or a visa which allow you to work.

There are several ways to try to get it organized:

- Get hired by a US company and have them apply for your visa. This will only work if you find a company who really wants/needs you. They will have to prove that no US citizen can do the job.
- Start working for an international company in Holland from which you know that they have branches in the USA and send people there on an expat basis.
- Enter the green card lottery of the US government, win a green card and go to the USA. When you're there with a green card it will be a lot easier to find a job.
- Marry a US citizen and get your green card via that route.

Hey Gary! Hoe is het in Puerto Rico?

Number 1 would be an option if I can get some good contacts/friends, and I can get them to do some creative paperwork...working on that right now.

Number 2 is also an option, really haven't looked into that , thanks.

Number 3 is a chance, the 2008 lottery will be anounced soon and I will apply then.

Number 4, Maybe if i can spend a week in US I will find someone to marry.. I'm just too busy you know ;)
