Moving to Spain solo

I can only speak for Palma de Mallorca and Salamanca, but you can ask your local council or Google it.

Hi I know this is an old post but I don't see why I shouldn't reach out. I'm also from the UK, solo, female, currently living and working in Switzerland. Both my children are adults who have their own lives in the UK. Soon I will be in retirement age, I know for a fact that as a pensioner it is not possible for me to live here. The cost of living is just too high. I have 2/3 years before retiring, so I would like to start thinking about my future now. I would like to move somewhere in Spain, ideally close to the sea. If you have any experience please could you share it with me? I am ever so grateful for any information. Thank you.

Best,

Halimah

Did you ever move to Spain and if so what area (if you don't mind saying).  I just got here in November, retired to Spain.  I am going to go to meetups language exchange and other meetups, as well.  Cheers!

Ola, Can I ask about your conversation class?  I am also in Valencia (retired here), got here in November and looking for learning Spanish options.  Thanks!

Did you make it to Valencia?  I got here in November, so still settling in.  But I love, love, love it..😎

My tentative plan is to relocate to Europe in a couple of years. I am almost through the Duolingo Spanish course, and plan to do the Italian and Catalan courses before I move.

I should add that I just turned 81 and will have to make it on very minimal Social Security.  By the time I go I will have acquired dual Italian citizenship which I think would qualify me for a European passport. I will also be able to get dual citizenship in Spain after living there for a year. (My mom’s father emigrated to the U.S. from Bari; my dad’s parents were born in Aragón in Spain. I have family near Toulouse that I met on a trip to Spain in October 2013, and other more distant relatives in both Spain and Italy.)

I would be interested in talking to anyone who has made those moves or is contemplating doing so.

Thank you,

Diane
