You are lucky that you have lived in many countries. You had the opportunity to look at the life in different angles.
Guest3948247

@fdogans not immediately, but once I settle down there I will contact you. I always wanted to go sailing 😊

Hello dear friends, I just arrived in Turkey and settled here, my main problem is that I do not know Turkish at all, I only know English, you can offer me a job that does not require language
cdw057

@toraborainangola Great conditions for a good career, ofcorse turkish will help a lot, but the languages you manage are already great.

Hello everyone,

I came across the forum a few days ago, while searching for some info on moving to Turkey. We are a middle-age couple from Bosnia, and have decided to buy property and start living between Alanya (Kargicak) and Bosnia.

Our main reason for joining the forum is to find useful information on various things and I hope I will enjoy it here.

THanks :)

Sounds Interesting.

@vincentvandendriessche sounds Belgium or Dutch, why do you look for investors through the forum and not through existing business challenges, at the least I am suspicious.

I am working and living in London, as an English Language teacher, I am thinking of possibly relocating to Turkey, Izmir or other parts of the country. I have 5 weeks off in the summer to possibly visit, see how life, volunteer summer job May go, to have an idea about living there, if you have any advice about accommodation there for the summer 1 month in August. Thanks

Hi

My name is Terry. My wife Jackie and I are currently living in Antalya. We are both retirees. We are Australians. We lived for 2 1/2 years in Chiang Mai Thailand. We came to Turkey at Xmas time for a vacation.  The last time we visited Turkey was 25 years earlier. We loved Antalya so much, we decided to ‘test drive’ Turkey for 6 months. We love ancient places and going out to dinner. Antalya is well supported in both departments.

Hello, I am planning to leave the United Kingdom and live in Turkey sometime during the year or so.  I am a Level 5 HND Beauty Therapist / Skin Specialist and have spent 17 years in local government administration and advisory roles so thinking of starting a Beauty at Home business or work in Izmir / Istanbul.

British by birth presently living in UK,  partner is Turkish by birth living in Turkey and a purchasing manager, 46, so has a good job (in Turkey salary wise) he has a 5 year old child living with his ex wife.  However we also have thoughts on living in the UK a few years first, unsure what to do for living our best lives.

We have had enough of the distance and to’ing and fro’ing now.

Talking of a life long future, marriage etc but need as much information as possible to make our decisions and plans. Neither of us have much in savings, cost of living and pandemic saw to that, unfortunately I was not in Turkey at time of lockdown...

From what I understand, for me to become a Turkish citizen, we would have to be married for 3 years - but I would have to apply for a long residency? He has a suitable apartment but due to inflation and issues in Turkey would not be able to support me financially at present.. although I have some savings so that is not an issue.

UK I would have to earn approximately £18,600 pa and be able to support him financially in this country, but he would be unable to work? I am not working at present due to fractured knees running during lockdown and awaiting knee replacements now! A short term problem.  I don’t really want to be seen as a woman supporting her man because due to legislation he is unable to work... I have my own home and could sell and move, or my home is somewhere for him to live with me.. however, I would have to re-home my 22 and 17 year old with father I guess... not a thought they or I relish ..

Any thoughts? Advice? Please do not think bad of me I have my own life now since kids are just getting on with theirs, and I also have to protect myself ..

Especially advice regarding visas, legislation living in one or another’s country? I work self employed, so have options..

Thank you so much

Thank you Julien for excepting me on this link.  I am Rika from South Africa and I have amazing friend from Samandag Turkey, we met online at a dating site.  Normally I don't take it seriously due its online and especially if its long distance.  But its know 5 months since we met and every day he text and call me.  I have met almost all of his family over the phone and he have met my children and some of my family over the phone.  I had in the past have bad experience on bad relationships and like many people trust is the main core in any relationship.  Many times I told him that we cant make this work due of many situations between us but he is sticking like glue to me and I must say I am totally over the moon in love with him he really show care and support to me in everything.  The 2nd day he called me he already told me he is going to marry me but I don't take that seriously but after 5 months he still stick to his choice.  The only difficult path is that we are just too far and money is the biggest issue between us because its not that easy just to relocate on both sides.
But besides that I have fallen in love with Turkey because of him and I read many people warn about dating Turkish men but so far my friend really show me more love and support I have ever experience.  I hope on this site someone can help us.  To help me find work and I can get a job because I would like nothing more to unite with my friend.

@Guest3948247
sorry to have missed your post before!
we are from bosnia, but serbia is a neighboring country and we know a lot about it + we are very similar. indeed, there are many similarities between all the balkan countries and turkey, as they all were a part of ottoman empire for 500+ years.
there are a lot of words that stayed in the language + a lot of customs and habits that  we share, not to mention family ties and DNA :)
is there anything specific you are interested in?
DSstilic

@Cheryl - just a small suggestion :) living in turkey guide could be updated :) i find info about residence dating from 2020, and the situation today is very, very different. :)
