Onward Flight Ticket

I see this topic was last posted in 2019 so updating is needed. Will a one way ticket work or is an onward ticket needed today? If not thoughts on a $19 ticket confirmation from 'onewayfly' type service? vs upgrading to a roundtrip changeable ticket from an airline.

I flew into SGN on a one way ticket in April. I’m flying back into SGN tomorrow on a one way ticket. I have never been asked about a ticket out.
If they ask say I’m going to take a bus to Cambodia or Thailand.

Hi Pogiwayne
So you have travelled to Saigon with no problems at all. So the borders have opened for all visitors. I am in Sydney and my last trip to Saigon was in Nov 2019.

As was mentioned in the other thread you decided not to use, Vietnam has no requirement for proof of onward travel but some AIRLINES surprise people and ask for proof before allowing you to board a flight.

That's because an airline is responsible to return you to your most previous departure point if you attempt to enter the country without all proper documentation.

So, maybe ask YOUR airline their policy?

If you have a connecting flight--especially a different airline--don't forget to ask them too.

The reports I've seen were for flights connecting through Taiwan.

If you fly on Vietnam Airlines you definitely won't need to worry about that.
