It appears that video is from March 12th?

Here's the translated headline:

"People's lives in My Tho city are turned upside down because of high tides

TIEN GIANG High tide caused many houses and roads in My Tho City, especially the Trung Luong intersection area, to be heavily flooded, disrupting people's lives and businesses."

That's silly.

They have to wait six months before they get them. The public must forget the corruption stories.

My, oh my.

Quite the roller-coaster ride for dear 'ole Ivermectin's credentials.

From "HERO!"(2017) to "zero"(2021) back to "HERO!"(2024) again?

As to that "zero", well the Science seems to have been (ahem) "settled".

Reports coming in today that Klaus Schwab has been hospitalized.

Did he ates zee bugs? I sure hope it's nothing trivial.

Of course if he passes it won't be possible for me to attend his wake, but I'll make sure to send a note to the family to let them know I approve.

I'm sure he'd be happier down where he's going, finally owning nothing and all.

Let's all focus and send out our thoughts on what's for the best (that he succumbs).

In the Western press there seems to be a consensus that the sentence will be commuted, but now is being used as leverage to get her to name others,  Go back just a month.   Could this be tied to the unexplained resignation of the President Vo Van Thuong?

Just curious here, wondering about code of conduct. I really am ambivalent about the whole idea of politics and religion and to not include in our conversation, but am respectfully wondering where the line is drawn.

Based on past moderation of comments by Admin, it appears that the proverbial line is drawn at actual arguments for or against a particular religious or political point of view.

I nearly split my sides laughing this afternoon. GF was cutting up some cumquat (she calls them, in English, "lime") to add to a juice she was making for her sore throat. I tasted it, and it was delicious.

Asked her how she made it, and no word of a lie, she answered,

"I put the lime in the coconut". I was trying my damnedest to stifle my laughter.

But when she then said "...and drink it all up", well, I buckled.

My opinions are unpopular amongst the idiocracy.

Aidan in HCMC

@Fred

It's almost as though we are living in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so that stupid people won't be offended.

I'm still trying to figure out how anybody thinks they have "a right" to go through life without being offended.

I'm pretty easy going but two things offend me:

Blind idiocy/stupidity

Laziness

However, I tend to either ignore such things or give them an offski tablet.

A Barnsley upbringing commonly means the latter. I get into trouble at work for saying what I think, but it tends to be the majority opinion.

The fact we have to state the bloody obvious and get hassled if we do it shows the world has gone crackers.

However, nut jobs have the right to be offended, just as I have the right to tell them to get stuffed.

I hope you're crazy.

I'm crazy - Have been for yonks.

I've done 200 kph on my bike, 300 on the back of a mate down the A1, jumped out of working aeroplanes, and flown whilst in the driver's seat of a Cessna.

I've also flown on a fast motorbike, but that wasn't deliberate - it was fun 😉

I've adopted a new maxim for life. It goes something like this...

Believe nothing, trust no State representative at any level, trust no legacy mainstream media and question absolutely everything, including yourself. In fact, don't even believe nothing!

I love geopolitics.

I read every UK national newspaper every day when I had a paper round, then listened to Voice of America, Radio Moscow, and loads of other international stations on an old 19 set.

Much as most of my reading and listening is now via the interweb, i still keep a shortwave radio for the special bits.

These two things are real eye openers and, when you realise the lot lie, you can start working out what's really going on.

50 years of reading the world's news gives me a special insight into what most people never see.

I still read at least 20 newspapers every day in the holidays, but that can drop as low as 5 to 10 when busy.

My bookmarks cover news from all the major players' government run outlets, and privately owned ones when required.

They always could. It's greedy politicians that starts wars, not ordinary phone thieves.

It may be because of the Google translation but one part of the report fascinated me:  "When the male store security guard stood up because he heard an unusual noise, three subjects attacked him, punched him, controlled him mentally, then used duct tape to tie his hands and feet and gag the victim's mouth."

Just what did they mean by "controlled him mentally"?  Do these Russians have mind control powers we don't know about?  Maybe someone who can read the original text might have a more mundane translation.

So, in 2021, it would appear that Vietnam had more students studying abroad, per capita, than any other country in the world.

That's impressive.

in the first sense it is an impressive statistic.  However, consider that it shows a lack if faith in the value of the country's own universities.   One of my wife's nieces is a professor at the University of economics in Ho Chi Minh City.  I have never spoken with her at length but I would expect that the subject matter approach is somewhat limited.  Subjects like Po;itical Science may also be constrained.   On the other hand, so called hard sciences shoul be just fine in Vietnam.   The overseas study rate is also an indicator of a high level of income disparity.
