PCR test no longer required for entry

Post new topic

pnwcyclist
Effective May 30, the Covid test will no longer be required for fully vaxxed (with booster) passengers to enter.

And apparently the Covid medical coverage requirement is also being dropped.

Do we still have to do the One Health Pass?
pnwcyclist
Yes, as far as I know. That gets all your info into the system.

@pnwcyclist  Good Stuff!  Thanks bro!

Best News I have heard in a long time. I am planning a trip to USA later this year (3 year stay & away), and have literally been checking Every Day to see if this would happen. I think pressure was from other countries, such as Thailand, which were softening their requirements and competing for the Male Tourism Dollar. I only wish that USA will do the same and drop the Covid Test Requirement to enter. And also so glad that the Covid Insurance requirement was dropped which was So Confusing, especially for those of us (unmarried) retired here and staying for three years at a time. I am Double Vaccinated, but now will reluctantly get the Booster to meet the new entry requirements.

@Bdc175

I just sent an email to the PNA.GOV.PH site asking if the One Health was still a requirement. If/When I receive a reply, I will let everyone know in a Post.

@talamban thank you. On my way in July or August.

@pnwcyclist I think the OHP will be a lot easier now because it no longer needs to be timed with uploading the pcr/antigen tested results no sooner than 48/24 hours before boarding and sometimes needing internet access at the airport etc.. Now you just upload your vax information and contact tracing information, that does not depend on timing, 2 days before the trip.

Great point @dannfinn. I think this change definitely takes some of the stress out of it, not to mention cost.

@talamban I don't see the USA dropping the pcr test for entry, not as long as Bidens in office, that's just my opinion. They should, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it continued. I think the US is now the only country in world requiring its own citizens to test negative just to get back into their own country! It shouldn't be that way...

Hi Guys, As my 3 years stay here in the Philippines is coming to an end I need to go out and come back some. I will be grateful if I get some advice. I am planning to go to Thailand for few days and back to Philippines. What do I need to do? Are there any Asian countries that is hassle free?
FindlayMacD
I don't know what the rules are for entry into Thailand these days but when I checked in early May you had to quarantine even if you were fully vaccinated, that is why we decided to go to Singapore when I had to exit recently. I assume you know that you'll need to get an exit clearance visa from the Bureau of Immigration and you will need an outbound (throw away) ticket for your return flight or you may find your airline will not board you. Apart from that the only other thing that I wasn't prepared for was that foreigners now have to pay the Philippines Travel Tax if they have stayed in the Philippines more than a year, you can get the travel tax at the airport in Manila, but at least you won't need a PCR test to come back here.

@ibusan1046 Hi there, I left the Philippines on 27 May after visiting my girlfriend and two year old daughter for three weeks and can confirm as I am currently in Vietnam, that there are no covid requirements here at all. Masks are worn but all the PCR testing, proof of covid insurance, etc has been removed.

ibusan1046

@FindlayMacD Thank you so much for the info.

ibusan1046

Well, just discovered that we are now required to pay a Travel Tax, if you have been here for more than one year. About PHP 1,640 for Economy Ticket.

1.    What is the OTTPS?
TIEZA’s Online Travel Tax Payment System (OTTPS) is an online payment portal designed to provide a more convenient way of paying travel taxes.
2.    How do I access the OTTPS?
You may access the TIEZA OTTPS portal by visiting https://traveltax.tieza.gov.ph
3.    How do I use the OTTPS?
o    Select the type of travel tax you wish to pay- First Class or Economy/Business Class.
o    Create a one-time account by providing your email address and Passport Number.
o    Enter your Ticket Number, Mobile Number, Departure Date and Country of Destination. *Ticket Number or Electronic Ticket Number may appear as Booking Reference, or Number or Record Locator, or Confirmation Number in your ticket or boarding pass.
o    A generated Reference Number will be sent to your email or mobile number. Please note that the Reference Number expires after 24 hours upon being generated.
o    Using the Reference Number, pay online via your Visa/Master/JCB Credit or Debit Card (through Maybank Payment Gateway) or Bayad Center Mobile App (Credit/Debit Cards, E-Wallet, Paypal), or over the counter through Bayad Center Branches nationwide.
o    An email containing an Acknowledgment Receipt (AR) will be sent to you confirming you have successfully paid the travel tax.
o    Print two (2) copies of the AR and present them to the airline check-in counter prior to boarding.

And, of course the required "Throwaway Air Ticket". Just discovered Cheap Proof of Onward Travel for $14: https://onwardticket.com/  Haven't tried it yet.

Still waiting for One Health Pass registration to hopefully be abolished.

The US no longer requires a test for entry. Non-US citizens will have to provide proof of vaccination.
