We went with Medus.  All done through Millenium Bank when we opened our account.  No questions, just a monthly debit 1f642.svg

Evidence that the visa applicant has travel insurance with health coverage

Is travel ensurance valid for the application of D7?
JohnnyPT
You will need to purchase Travel Insurance with Health Coverage for one year (please read my previous links)

For the D7 appointment at the London Embassy in Oct 2021 I showed proof of comprehensive 1 year travel insurance which includes medical cover. This was acceptable.

This policy is still active and does not expire until next year

I have my appointment with SEF in June .

JohnnyPT - I plan to register with SNS at some point soon after my SEF appointment, but do you think the travel insurance / medical policy is adequate for this appointment ? I have read in various places that dedicated private medical insurance is required, which is  different to travel insurance with medical.

What do you think ?

Hi Neale,

Once your D7 visa has been approved, you can register with the National Health System. You can also have a private health insurance, which can be useful for specialised appointments. For standard general medical appointments, or emergency services, the NHS works reasonably well.

Is a S1 enough to cover ?
JohnnyPT

S1 is one of the requirements for access to the NHS.

I have been advised that I can have an S1 issued in the UK or Malta for Portugal. I have the choice as I am a British subject and have Maltese Residency.  I take a pension from both countries.

Sorry, is this okay for the Visa or do you still require Travel Insurance?
JohnnyPT
S1 is not eligible for visa requirements.

For visa requirements you must have travel insurance with health coverage for one year.
Please read my posts #4 and #6 in this thread.

Quick question: what is the difference between  buying health insurance from the company or from one of its partners?

I am in interested in MGEN - not sure how good it is?
