Leeds forever!

I just got my one year "retirement" extension yesterday. While in the process I decided to rent a place in Bangkok. I did the entire process in Chiang Mai, so now I need to do a change of address process, which i am pretty clear about, and then 90 day reporting. My question is, where can I go to do these things in bkk? I see there's an office at the port in Khlong Toei, can I use this office for both changing address process and 90 day reporting?
Cheers,
FDG

I think you need to go up to Chaeng Wattana, the government complex. Just google it for directions.

@Friendly G34 Hi mate. If that is the nearest Office to where you live, then go in and ask them. At the same time ask them if this is OK for 90 day reporting. If it is not they will give you details of where to go to. However, for 90 day reporting, try the on-line system - and if that doesnt work on first few days you try, then mail the documents in (get receipt from Post Office).  I never did 90 days reporting in person - they give it the lowest priority in the Office (no money in it) so you can wait a long time.  As in Chiang Mai, dont go on Mondays or Fridays.

There's only one immigration office in Bangkok for TM30 registrations, and thats what he needs to do when moving to Bangkok permanently before

he can even do a 90 days report or an extension there. That office is in Chaeng Wattana, northern Bangkok.

Without submitting the TM30 in Bangkok, the only office where he can do 90 days reports (in person) or extensions or anything else is the immigration office where

he is registered.

If the address is in Bangkok then you have to go at Immigration Division 1 inside the Governament building in Chaeng Wattaná - Pakret area and file your TM-30 form signed by the room owner together with his id card copy, rent contract, and your passport copies.

You can use the BTS Sukhumvit line to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat station and there take a taxi. Same place also for 90 days report or do it on-line by registering with the new procedure.

@Friendly G34 if your new address is in Bangkok then you have to go at the Immigration Division1 inside Governament building near Chaeng Wattaná road Pakret area and file there your TM-30 signed by the room owner together with his id card copy and the contract as well your passport copies.

Same place for your 90 days report or use the new on-line system by registering first.

You can use the BTS Sukhumvit line and stop at Wat Phra Sri Mahathat and there take a taxi. Is quicker and efficient.

@Maxi Mari

The landlord or owner doesn't need to sign the TM30. You can self-report and sign the TM30 yourself. But if the owner/landlord is Thai, you might need a copy of his house book and Thai ID-card and those copies must be signed by that person. If renting from a foreigner you need a copy of the lease and a copy of the owners passport, the first page with the photo and signed by him/her. Plus the standard copies from your passport and signed at the bottom with blue ink.

@Leeds forever! Up to you do like you want, not my problem.

There are no RULES in Thailand.  There is what they say are the RULES.

The only real RULE in Thailand is that every RULE changes over time.

Go into your nearest Immigration Office and ask them - that should not be a problem.

Imagine travelling 1-2 hours to do something, and then find out that the local office will do it.

Every RULE in Thailand changes - and every local Police/Immigration Office does things their way.

Many do it the same way - but many do not.

Ask politely what they want you to do, thanks them for telling you, and then go and do it.

DO NOT tell them what the rules are - they make, change, delete and impose rules as they wish.

Be prepared that one day they say 'this', and then next day/week they say 'that'.

They are polite and pleasant - you must be the same - and never ever 'correct' or 'criticise' them.

When you get the inevitable WTF moment - just say  "Oh, OK - no worries - smile - and then go do it."

IT is not important, and YOU are not important - that is how they all think about everything in Thailand.

Have a great day in the Land of Smiles where they all just put up with it (most of the time) and where they intensly dislike Expats who complain and make them 'lose face'.
