We have a D7 visas but I’ve been given an appointment for the SEF appointment in Porto even though we will be living in Lisbon and our rental agreement that we submitted was for
a property in Lisbon. Does anyone have any experience of how easy hard it is to change the appointments to somewhere that’s local to us

Hello londonfolk,

I suggest you try contacting them directly. They may advise you better.

I would be grateful to get any appointment anywhere. In my case I have been waiting 21 months for an appointment with SEF. I have heard of people flying from Lisbon to the Açores for an appointment because that is where they could get one sooner.

@carpenterjai There are just many like us, most of us having made substantial investments into Portugal already. I guess, if I was a cynic, that because of this we are not given as high a priority as those they are expecting to still make the investment.

A big point for me however is that the legal professional here is just not very proactive. If all of the them got together, (or at the least the big legal companies), and aggressively petitioned government at a parliamentary level to act, then we would see a change. I sense that they are not the type of lawyers to do this, and prefer to 'defend the process' rather than challenge it on behalf of their clients.
Happy to hear how you get on - good luck.
