My Sponsor is holding my passport, I completed 3 years in oman, I have unpaid leave that needs to be paid as my vacation has also been declined, I have Given my Resignation Letter in August a 30day notice period by law, it got declined via email. We then had a verbal agreement to my resignation me going back to South Africa and not coming back to Oman. My Sponsor gave me the breakdown of money owed to me. She deducted 500omr for Visa

Expenses from my total of 783omr

I have one ticket pending of last year and she does not want to pay me for this month's salary. She wants me to leave Oman with the total of 283omr for the 3 years since I've worked here. Until how she has not paid me any of the above mentioned. The total of 783 for the last 3 Years I've completed in Oman. My traveling date is on 4th September as she agreed with me on this specific date. I have complained on manpower online. They have not gotten back to me

Hi kimleefortuin,

You have very limited time on your hands to fight your case. So whatever you do you must do pronto.

Your only recourse is your Employment Contract. I hope you have your Employment Contract where all the details of your remuneration, leave travel reimbursement, and visa cost reimbursement (if any is specified) are mentioned clearly and is signed by both you as well as your sponsor.

Consult with a reputed manpower attorney (they usually do one free consultation). If they say you have a strong case in your hands, let them handle it for you. If they / you feel that you have been unfairly treated by your sponsor / employer, you can even demand a sizeable (5-figure) compensation from your sponsor for the mental agony meted out to you.
