Meet online, chat

is there an online mum's / parents' (support)  group? not only for problems, to meet and share info, experience, daily life things, etc, contact other parents, hear each other, I recently moved to Ypres, beautiful little town, but almost no one I can relate to ! HELP ! need new friends ! Native English is possible.  Not only lockdown drama, in general, I want to meet online - the new normal, right? but everywhere I look is either dating or activities outdoors, which is find too, but nothing in my area, so am looking online just meet & chat first, see later, am, alone with my daughter (13) and sometimes not easy in general, the adjusting etc. Am a professional, consular assistant, working from home. so... Friendship?, please?. anyone? thanx. Mary

Hi.
I used to live in Ieper. Small boring town. Where are you from?

I agree with u ,I still live there ,its awufl, planning to move to Gent or Deinze very soon

hi Jaci, thanx for the reply, I was away from everything expat for the past few weeks, too frustrating! I will be checking this site again, I started to regret this move, we are not happy here, simple. I'm looking to make a group, I am really alone, no family here, nowhere else in the world, sounds crazy, but it's true. Parents dead, siblings fighting over money, so all contact among relatives -gone. Long story. Back to present ... we're in really bad shape bc isolation, can"t find one soul to talk to, relate to, all freaked out with covid. 6 months in, working from home, so no new colleagues, not contact with old ones either. haven't made new friends here, well ..yes, met a few locals, but what's with the "schoonmaken en fabriek werk" ?! I am so tired of this.  Not only now here,  lived in benelux area for 15 years, it's all the same, only big like Brussels or Den Haag are super great and we feel accepted and integration is NOT a problem. We are extremely sad. I need to talk to people, is it allowed here to give tel, nr ? or plan a meet?

hello Rafat, thank you too, for writing, OMG feels so good to be heard !!!! are you a parent too? by the way, I don't care male or female, not looking for a date here, just kind of grown-ups support, I'm 49 and not fitting in, I love big family, friends, entretrain, laugh, cooking, wine, enjoy life in general, here they're all dead ???? always doing the same things, I asked to some locals I met, hoping to become friends, right? I asked them what they do for fun -the response was "thee drinken en boek lezen" OMFG !!! am sorry, they're very nice and sweet, helpful if I need them, but we're dying here. we're very sad, my daughter struggling with locals kids, imagine ....the further they ever travelled might have been Kortrijk. and we come from living abroad, in 3 different continents, private international schools,  friends from several backgrounds, interesting and intelligent people, never saw them by the colour, and now we're here, and we're very disappointed, impossible to integrate, we both speak dutch fluently, learnt in holland, the second they hear an accent they reply in English. What is that? I never felt so humiliated and insulted (not only for that, more things) never in the world never a problem. I'm desperate for expats, where are you guys ?! I don't want to start a group to complain about the place,, it's just my feelings out for a second, but a support group more like a parents thing, yes?

Hi expats friends, I've seen an add somewhere about a picnic for Expats in Ieper, along the water place, May 2nd, 2 pm.   So far ..they're saying lockD. lifted 1rst May, so, I think we could gather outside, right? I'm going ! come too so we can meet ! It sounds fun :-)

Yes okay that good but we can create a WhatsApp platform

Hi Mary,

Well good point! There should be some chat rooms or free connection room to just talk or share life in general with no dating or anything like :)

I can understand being a single a mom :)

I have a friend in Belgium, she is living with her husband and daughter. She is also looking similar thing maybe I can connect you both online if you are okay.

Let me know, my mail address is ***

Hi everyone. I'm just curious if I find someone to just chat and have a laugh nothing more. I working here and really have nothing else to do being honest. Trying here to have someone closer than 1600 km from home as well...

I can relate to many of you and your struggles. Belgians are very nice but quite 'closed' in the sense that once they have their 'circle' they really don't go outside of that. I have some Belgian friends but only because they are married to non-Belgians and so are influenced by them.  (Ha Ha) I'm open to getting together with others. Also, I have a wonderful church - many nationalities - and it is in English. It's IBC Brussels - located in Wezembeek-Oppem. Right now we aren't meeting at the church due to COVID regulations, but there are still many activities online so a chance to get to know people. I also do Bible studies if anyone is interested. I used to have a regular 'girls' night out' but all the people in the group moved away. I would love to start it again if anyone is interested. I did it once a month. We had a Bible study then had dinner and just hung out. It was really nice.

Well you're absolutely right... The thing is lucky for you have time for spiritual things. I'm not unfortunately.

You make time for what's important, no?

Or what's necessary I think 🤔

Hi Rafat, still in Ieper?  would you like to meet?  I'm a mum, currently working from home, well ..now holidays, desperate for Expats! please let me know, ***.  quick & easy.

Hi Mary -Ha ha ha - Sam eexperience here and not too far off from where you now live- maybe even worse - Imagine an Indian who lived in Hongkong, Spain Portugal, US, Uk and lands up in Roeselare- It's painful - Broke up with my flemish wife , came to Brusels and now breaking up again with my GF bruseloise - But that's life . However nothing could be a bigger torture for openminded people who have the entire horizon in their eyes and a need to talk , socialise, eat, have fun are doomed to suffer in West flanders . I was even contemplating and trying to imagine how painful it should have vbeen for the soldiers who gave their lives in the WW & - I don't remeber even for which war they have the memorial built thre - Can't you escape from there and come and live in Brussels - It'll not be as living in theUK , US or Holland for that matter but will certainly be a great healer afetr having spent the 'Covid' times aty Ieper - Feel free to call/txt *** I'm Arvind , belgian national of Indian origin living in Belgium since 2001 - Hope you understand that we are in the same boat -
