Recipe of the month: Mauritian chicken curry!

This is one of the most popular Mauritian dishes. The chicken curry is loved by all and relatively easy to make. This week, we introduce the chicken curry recipe, which we are sure will make the whole family happy.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of chicken legs or chicken breast
  • 2 potatoes - cut into cubes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 teaspoons of curry masala
  • 3 peeled tomatoes
  • Salt, pepper, garlic and coriander

Mix the chicken with salt and garlic.

To prepare the potatoes: Add a little oil in a pan on the stove, add the potatoes and salt and fry the potatoes for about 3 minutes. Remove the potatoes from the pan.

Then put the chicken pieces in the oil and stir for 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove the chicken pieces.

In the same oil, add the onions and sauté for one minute over medium heat. Add the 4 teaspoons of curry powder, half a cup of water and salt. Mix and cook for 4-5 minutes.

Add the tomatoes and cook for about 2-3 minutes.

Add the chicken pieces, potatoes and one cup of water. Allow to simmer for 25 minutes on low heat.

Add the coriander and simmer for 5 more minutes.

Your dish is ready. You can serve it with rice or with faratas.
