Public transport in Tanzania

Written bysmkuyaon 20 October 2010

Just wish to tell our friends who are coming to Tanzania for a visit or stay to be aware of the public transport problems especially in two areas of railway and city public buses.

I feel sorry for my country to give the ill railway company to incapable company to invest nothing in order to boost the rail communication between Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Mwanza, Kigoma and Arusha. At the moment there is no train to Arusha and Tanga. Bad enough even the train to Mwanza and Kigoma is hardly once a week.So if you think that rail way could be the cheapest means of transportation in Tanzania, please think about it again!

City transport in Dar well known as "daladala", is another hell of punishment. We have the best overcrowded buses in the world. That could have been easy to travel in a crowded bus if the roads were clear. Problem comes when we have long ques and a trip that could take 15 min end up with 90 min.

I feel not to talk about air transport today!!! But anyhow, i am pleased to welcome you to our beautiful land of Kilimanjaro and Serengeti.

KARIBU!
