Running and jogging in Jakarta
Running and jogging are popular activities in Jakarta but are not recommended within the city limits. Street vendors and parked vehicles often crowd the sidewalks, not to mention motorcyclists. Unless you run very early in the morning, jogging in the streets of Jakarta can be challenging and even dangerous in some situations.
Although Jakarta is not renowned for welcoming joggers, there are great jogging trails throughout the city. If you live in a gated community, let yourself loose in the mornings, and evenings, as you please!
Other than that, some apartment complexes have enough space for runners. Otherwise, you can always go to one of the many parks in the city like Monas, Menteng, Suropati, Ayodya and Cattleya. Lapangan Banteng Park, located in central Jakarta, also has great trails for running.
