Transport in Macau
Macau has a well-developed transportation system, and you should have absolutely no trouble conveniently getting around the city. From public buses and taxis to bicycles, sightseeing vehicles and ferries, touring the city is both fun and comfortable. What's more, Macau offers quick and easy travel options to other big Asian cities: Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Shenzhen.
Public buses
Public buses in Macau cover most of the region's key areas with TRANSMAC and TCM being the two main companies operating Macau's buses. Most buses in Macau are compact air-conditioned vehicles, which offer comfortable travel around the city.
Make sure that you have some change (generally, about MOP 2.5) before boarding the bus, as there are no conductors on Macau's buses and you will need to pay directly to the driver. Most buses operate daily from 6.00 am to 12:00 am.
In addition to public buses, there are a large number of shuttle buses operating between various points in the city (especially Macau Tower and Fisherman Wharf) and the biggest resorts and casinos.

Buses in the city operate on one-way routes ' this means that you will not necessarily stop at the same bus stops on the way back.
Taxis
Taxis are another popular way of getting around Macau. There are over one thousand taxis in the city and taxi service is a comfortable way of travelling through the city. Note that it may be difficult to hail a taxi during rush hours. Your taxi fare will be calculated according to a taximeter Generally, you will pay MOP 19 for the first 1.6km and MOP 2.0 for every 240 metres after that. You can hail a taxi on the street or call a radio taxi service.
Another option is using one of the popular taxi hailing apps, like Macau Taxi or Uber. Install the app on your phone and follow the instruction to hail a cab to your location.

Hailing a taxi from certain areas like Macau International Airport, the taxi station of Taipa Ferry Terminal require an additional surcharge of MOP 5.0.
Ferries
Macau is well connected to its neighbours (mainland China and the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong) through a ferry system. From Macau, you can easily travel to 3 different locations in Hong Kong (Sheung Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong Airport and Tuen Mun), Zhuhai (mainland China), Shenzhen (mainland China).
TurboJet provides ferry services to all the above locations: a journey from Macau to Hong Kong takes 55 minutes, to Shenzhen about 60 minutes and to Zhuhai approximately 30 minutes.
Other means of transport in Macau
Macau's transportation system is rapidly developing. One of the city's major projects is the construction of the Macau Light Rapid Transit, which is intended to serve the Macau Peninsula, Taipa and Cotai.
Another big project is the construction of Hong Kong'Zhuhai'Macau Bridge scheduled to complete by the end 2017. The new road link will connect the three major cities in the Pearl River Delta through a series of bridges and tunnels.
