Position Overview:
The Chartered Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of Facility Engineering & Assurance-related activities during the early conceptual design phases. This role requires strong collaboration both externally—with key stakeholders and suppliers—and internally within the Facilities Management Team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop the Concept Definition Document for mechanical systems, including initial design concepts, technical specifications, calculations, material proposals, and system integration requirements.
• Ensure all facilities management (FM) activities align with applicable specifications, standards, codes of practice, and quality system procedures.
• Support engineering leadership in making mechanical engineering decisions during early design phases to maintain project feasibility within cost, quality, and contractual guidelines.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define and document mechanical engineering requirements.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities during the early-stage mechanical design phase and propose mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and present the Concept Definition Document to key stakeholders and address any design-related concerns.
• Monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of design documentation.
• Ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into overall project design and final deliverables.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Chartered Engineer status with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong networking and communication skills, with experience engaging with governments, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• In-depth knowledge of engineering, design, and quality standards such as NFPA, BS, CIBSE, ASHRAE, and ATEX.
• Ability to apply technical expertise efficiently to problem-solving.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
• Experience working in a diverse workforce.
• Preferred: Understanding of RSAF operations and working practices.
