Hello everyone,

In the various media, inflation in Saudi Arabia is becoming increasingly important. This is becoming a concern for some, with fears of an impact on day-to-day budgeting.

Today, how does inflation in Saudi Arabia impact on daily life?

Which products and services have increased the most (insurance, shopping, petrol, electricity etc.)?

Have you had to review your budget? If so, what are your priorities?

What solutions have expatriates found to curb the impact of inflation? Did they use specific aids?

Thanks for your future contribution

Kind regards,

No doubt inflation has caused lot of extra expenses. Prices of grossery items has increased by 50% during this year only. Prices of fruits, vegetables, milk, juices all increased. It has caused financial problems for low salary expats and they are unable to cope with increasing cost of living. People fear that labour class will be worst affected and lot of labourers may be forced to leave the kingdom. It will be disastrous for not only their families and native countries (depending on remittances) but also on the kingdom where companies will not find cheap labour. Lot of employees working on

Salary as low as 500 riyals per month. How companies will hire workers from inside the country on this low wages? Secondly it will further boost  employment of illegal immigrants on low salaries.

In short inflation has vast consequences not only for the public but also for Saudi Arabia
