Finding a place to live is a priority when settling in the French Riviera. Your experience will be of a great help for the members who want to settle in the French Riviera.

Therefore, we have prepared some questions for you:

Is it hard to find a flat or a house for rent in the French Riviera?

How to find a home in the French Riviera: classifieds, real estate portals, real estate agencies?

How much is the rental for a house, an apartment?

What are the formalities or the required documents for renting an accommodation?

Which advice would you give?

Thanks in advance for participating!

I don't think it is hard to find an accommodation on the Riviera. What is hard is to find the right place, regarding your job, your lifestyle( city or country, fancy or more down to earth)your personal situation (family, single, couple, kids, dogs, but also  and particularly your status. Do you have the backing of your company? Are you a modest, financially speaking, backpaker? or do you have anough cash to allow you to take your time and take any cheap thing before the right opportunity comes up. The main problem in France is that owners of accommodation aren't fairly protected by the law. I give you an example. If you have an accommodation, and lets see that you stop paying, it is going to be so hard and so long to kick out the guy that you really need papers proving that you are solvable. You go by a real estate agency and lets see that you have the cash to pay the three first months.. if you don't have a working contract , a CDI (contrat à durée indeterminé), it is almost impossible to get a place. And if you avoid the real estate agency, more and more, privat people will ask you the same papers unless you are able to pay , let see 6 months in advance.

How to find a home in the French Riviera: classifieds, real estate portals, real estate agencies?

If you have the papers (contract and all that), you go to few real estate agencies and you ask them to do the job for you. Internet is also a good way.

How much is the rental for a house, an apartment?

It depends where? In Biot, or Vallauris, which are a little bit further away from the coast, it s going to be cheaper, exemple, a 3 bedrooms, 75 m2 could be around 1000 €, the same place in a fancy area could be 3 times the price. You could find a studio for 550€..there might not have a terrace Are you gonna like it?

What are the formalities or the required documents for renting an accommodation?

Wage slip, working contract and sometimes a backer, your parents if you are young.

Which advice would you give?

Being patient, determined and cultivated networking.

Thanks in advance for participating!

Hi jean mull,

welcome to Expat.com!

Thank you for your contribution. :)

MarkyP

I am looking for a two bedroom flat in the Cannes area, away from the seafront and preferably old fashioned.
