Education system

Hi,

We are looking at moving to the Algarve, could someone please inform me of the education system. My daughter is finishing GCSE’s here in England next year and wants to go to animal college. In the Algarve will she need to go back to school until she is 18?

Really appreciate any help.

Many thanks

Samantha

Hi Samantha, Welcome.

According to the attached table, applicants who obtain grades between A+ and C in 6 disciplines at the end of GCSE will be awarded equivalence to 10th year of Portuguese education system, allowing them to enter directly into 11th year of the Portuguese system. If they do not have these marks, the student will have to register in 10th of the Portuguese system.

To enter the higher education system (University) she will have to attend 12th year and take entrance examinations.
