Cebu BI Extension qwik questions

Post new topic

Larry Fisher

Going to go for a 30 day extension next week in the city.

Pain in the arse being 2.5 hours away. But we ain't moving!

Q1. Since you're supposed to show an exit flight, I still have the cheap ticket I bought outright ($72usd) but it's scheduled for Dec 20th. The 30 day extension, would take me to Jan 23rd. So do I need to show a exit tix for between Dec 24th (my initial visa expiration date) and Jan 23rd?

Q2. I just need to bring my passport and a couple photos right? Fill out form there, pay the fee? Will I leave with the stamp or have to return? (that 2.5 hrs road trip sucks, from an ex trucker! lol)

Q3. Is there a day/time that one suggests getting there for fastest in-out?

Thanks folks, Week 1 of retirement in Cebu in the books. Still adjusting to the humidity, but I don't miss throwing chains on the big rig for 1 minute!

The return/exit ticket gets you into PH. done this many times and simply extend your visa, no one here seems to care if you are leaving or not as long as immi get their Pesos. So many posts on this subject.

Arrived March 2020 with an exit flight mid July 2020 but all flights cancelled, (C19) here I am 2 plus years later simply extending my visitor visor, no exit flight and good for 3 years.

As for the road trip Larry? As a long haul driver 2 and a half hours is nothing, catch the scenery on the travel and enjoy finding a parking spot if driving.

Enjoy.

Cheers, Steve.

LOL, ty Pearl. I won't buy another ticket. I don't have a vehicle yet. That's later on the to do list. Brother I don't miss those 14 hr days one bit. I averaged 138,000 miles per year. The 78km ride to Cebu is painful as a passenger.

Suggestion on which office? Day-time to arrive?

bigpearl

Don't know Cebu nor where you are but my local immi office is 40, 45 minutes away and a 10 minute in and out but I do go 8 to 9 am and rare to see another soul there, Cebu immi office might be a different kettle of fish.

Cheers, Steve.

@bigpearl And he will have to make the trip again in 2 months, right? And regular trips after that during 3 year period? Yeah, learn to like it. The positive part us that going to Cebu City every few months allows you to have fun there, see a good doctor, have a membership at S&R (like costco) etc. Since you have to go there regularly, take advantage. Living here in Dumaguete, we go to Cebu 3 times per year and we have SRRV with no need to extend.

It certainly wouldn't be so bad if I was driving and knew my way around at least to where I need, BI & S&R for example. I will look into purchasing a vehicle but not yet. My honey has a cousin taxi driver but he's on 24, off 24 and picks it up in the city. Which means getting him to us, then back to city, then back here is kinda painful because he can't pick it up early enough in the city to get down here early am like 5 or 6. More like 10am which gets us to City 1pm, kinda late. I ain't ready for the bus yet!

No idea as this member never mentioned his period of stay, only an extension,  yes correct every 2 months but I have heard BI in Cebu can do 6 month extensions like Manila, twice over a 36 month period.

Cheers, Steve.

@Larry Fisher In the future when you get a car, you can easily get around anywhere in cebu, dumaguete. Manila etc. with the WAZE app. It works fine here in the Philippines as long as you have a data signal and are not in very remote areas. If you are in cebu it will take you anywhere you want to go, S&R included of course. Yeah, it's a regular trip you must take every few months and a problem you will need to solve, being here on a tourist visa. If you do buy a car, you may notice that used cars are expensive, so much so that buying new is often a better deal. You can also look at Philippine made multicabs but they are not the thing for me.

@Larry Fisher

Q1.. no... no need to show any ticket when extending.

Q2... no... on the 1st extension of 30 days... only need passport, and pesos. Cebu in the mall... no dress code at that one... I arrived 1 hour after open(10) and there was already about 10 or so guys ahead of me... was pretty smooth nonetheless, and took Maybe 1.5 hours or so... you will leave with paper and reciept complete.  No additional stamp on the passport.  Just need to keep that reciept with stamp on it.  From one trucker to nother... agree... throwing chains SUCKS!  LOL...  enjoy the 2.5 hour drive... we are in Dapitan, Mindanao if you ever come across to tour... look us up!

@Wellsfry, cool..yea I ran I-5 Cal-Wash, I-90 to Wyoming,  84, 25, 15, 80 West of Denver.  All my old friends are having fits right now with feet of snow and chain controls! I sent them a road report saying no chain controls on Cebu National Highway and pics from my porch.

They hate me.🤣

I did a 6 month extension at the BI in the J Centre mall in Cebu this past June. All I needed was my passport and the form I filled out while having lunch across the hall. I paid for expedited service and had my passport back in 15 minutes with the extension stapled to the back of the passport.
