Hello guys, i have a visa question.

I am french, i stayed in rio for 7 month with a student visa last year and i stayed 3 more months without visa..

When I get out at the airport, the agent told me that i overstayed and we went to the PF but, there, i didnt enter in the office or anything, they just puted a tampon on my passeport without "Multa" or anything...

I was surprised i told to myself that they have been nice.

But now, i want to come for 2 week Holidays but i am very afraid of them make me pay or i don't know even i have didnt got anything on the departure.

Can you help me on this situation please?

Do you know about that?

Thanks a lot

12/15/22 @alicearnouldaa.  Hi, Alice,

Brazil and the EU have a Visa Waiver (Exemption de visa) agreement, and French citizens are entitled to stay in Brazil for up to 90 days per visit in every 180 days.  It sounds to me that since you only overstayed your student visa by three months, the Polícia Federal excused your overstay because it met the requirements of the Visa Waiver for tourists.  Effectively, you went from being here as a student to being here as a tourist, and didn't overstay.

So you should be okay when you come back.  If the Immigration Officer questions it, stay calm and tell him or her that the officers didn't inform you of a fine when you left.  Try not to overstay your 90 days, and enjoy your trip!
