@Emil33 Hello, if you hold Mauritius citizenship, sure you can buy land and build a house here. My biggest regret of 2022 is building a house in Mauritius. Unless you know a trustworthy building contractor (with job contractor permit) and the land is in a good neighborhood, where CCTV is everywhere. Otherwise, I strongly suggest you use your funds elsewhere.

Ok thank you for your expiriece! Do you know a good contractor you can recommend to me? I could write them a request.

@Bhavna Hello!

No im not but im going to marry. So i will have a permanent residency there.

Thanks for your reply!

As far as I can gather, it is not an easy task. Lots of rules and regulations and red tape. If you are not a Mauritian citizen and marry a Mauritian citizen, you do not automatically get the rights to buy land etc, for quite a while. Please do find out the details before making plans.

Hello Emil33,

Indeed Tookays is right, since you are not Mauritian owning land is not simple. Contact a notaire for official info.
