Being a long term rum drinker I can say that finding good rum is not easy. Whiskey is the drink of choice in Viet Nam. You may find a shop on Nguyen An Thu, D12 next to Hoc Mon, otherwise find a Winemart store.

As far as prices at AEON go:

Kraken and Diplomatico were close to 1M.

But, that’s for a small bottle of Diplomatico which put me off from buying it.

Bacardi Spiced and Havana 3 at a much more friendly price of around 480k.

I love rum.
I live way out in Hoc Mon.

The only place in HCMC I’ve managed to find it in so far is Aeon.

The international selection was Bacardi Spiced, Havana Club 3, Kraken and Diplomatico. None of which I am that keen on.

There was a locally produced rum from Hanoi which I thought I’d try, but won’t be buying again. But, cheap at 150k.

Anyone know anywhere that has a larger or different selection?

Sailor Jerry Spiced is around 900 vnd Thao Dien or try the shop on Ham Nghi st Phuong Ha they sell heaps of spirits including rums.

AOEN has now sold out of Bacardi Gold. But, forgot to mention that it also stocks Captain Morgan Spiced Gold for 459,000 and Black Spiced which costs a lot more.

Got a bottle of Blackheart 93% Proof 46.5% alcohol from: [link moderated]

Cost was 308k. Good price. Selected Cash On Delivery as payment method. Then, got an order confirmation email which stated, Shipping: Pick up at store’. Very confusing. ???

Got a call from one of their staff members 30 minutes later saying that I needed to pay by card or bank transfer. And that delivery would be by Grab at a cost of 150k from their store in Thu Duc to Hoc Mon, as it was over New Year. 

Also mentioned that if the order was over a million then delivery was free.

As for the rum, it IS strong though very mild. Dr Pepper (cherry) like taste with a hint of vanilla.

If you search carefully, you can also find Blackheart online for as little as 220k.

@Aidan in HCMCbesr place is Anam grocery store in Takashimaya mall in D1 level B2 they have a very good selection of everything and some 12 and 20 year old rum
