Hi, my name is Kerry. My husband, Garth, and I moved to Mauritius in August last year from Sheffield Beach, South Africa. I was offered a job so we are here on a professional occupation permit.
We are currently living in Roches Noires and really love this location with access to the most beautiful beach.
While we are slowly starting to settle, we have found it quite difficult to adjust to our new lives here and to meet new people. We are hoping that we will be able to connect and meet other expats who find themselves in a similar situation.
Thank you!
Hello everyone,
This is Jay. I moved back on the island few months ago from Canada and Uk before. As an entrepreneur and having my own business i can work anywhere so i took advantage of that and moved back on the beautiful island:)
I can't complain since i've been here and i thought i would keep growing my network hence why i signed up on this platform.

Hi Everyone !
I am 60 a fresh new retired french guy but my wife is still working . The idea is first to find out a pleasant place to stay for a couple of weeks time enough to have a rough overview of the area to stay later for months : first in a furnished rental apartment or house with a sea view.
Discovering the island and fix a lovely place to invest in the future...why not.
For instance nothing is planned : I start to collect informations, try to find opportunities and compare with other countries.
Best regards !
Stefano

@Meesha88 Hi, Don't know if this is still relevant, but you can browse LinkedIn for job offers in Mauritius. I did see opportunities in AML some time back - was in offshore companies in Mauritius. They usually pay well.
cheers

Hello All
Glad to be part of this forum.
Am a newbie here. Living in the US, getting ready to retire and having visited Mauritius multiple times, seriously considering retiring there.
Am going to go through the retirement posts and look forward to guidance who may have already been through the process.
Thanks.
@Akashinga hi there. Welcome to the forum. I would recommend that you come and live here for a month or so before making a final decision. Please read through the EDB website -- it is easy to follow, especially for the retirement requirements. If you feel you meet all the requirements, I would suggest that you apply for the retirement visa while in the US - there are no fees to pay. You then would have to come over within a couple of months, with the agreement in principle, see how you like it here, and if you do, then pay the fees and get the visa. You have to open a bank account and transfer in money to pay the associated fees and although the EDB says it should be easy to open an account, it really is not unless you show a lot of documentation. Hopefully those rules will be eased for potential retirees. Good luck whatever you decide.
Hello everyone, my name is Atsu and I am currently living with my wife. I have been working as a safety officer with a domestic airline for a while now, and I also have a background in IT. Additionally, I am a licensed cabin crew with four years of experience under my belt. Recently, I have been considering a move to Mauritius in search of a better life for myself and my wife. With my skills and experience, I am confident that I will be able to contribute positively to the workforce in Mauritius and achieve my goals for my family's future. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to exploring all that Mauritius has to offer.
@atsuadrakishaka Hello and welcome on board !
Please read the Living in Mauritius Guide for Expats to know how you can land an opportunity here.
The domestic airline here will only hire locals. I don't really know in which sector your skills would fit in maybe try approaching other airlines or hotels jobs (google search for hotels and send them your CV). However I am not sure you will live a better life here with that salary.
Feel free to create your CV in the Jobs in Mauritius section of even contact Recruitment Agencies in Mauritius to enquire about jobs opportunities that would match your degree or skills.

Hello to all, thank you first of all for the inclusion in your forum.
My name is Martin, I am 64 years old and currently still live in Germany. My wife is a native of Mauritius, but has also lived in Europe for 30 years.
At the moment I work as a director of a bank branch, but retirement is approaching ;-)
So we want to live in Mauritius for about 6 months and in Germany for 6 months starting next year.
We already have a house in Palma, Quatre Bornes and are used to come here twice a year.
My hobbies are my classic cars (and motorcycles) and the repair and maintenance. Furthermore I love all handicraft activities, so to say as a balance to my commercial profession.
We are looking forward to meet new people here in the future and to a lively exchange of ideas and experiences.
Best regards from Germany - Martin and Christina

Hi everyone
My name is Ian from seychelles me and my family want to move to Mauritius. I'm currently on a visa which will expire on the 6th October this year my wife is at the University on a student visa for 3 yrs and my 2 daughters are waiting for their visa so that they can be in school.
I'm 43yrs of age, looking for any vacancy in the line of finance (diploma in finance) , occupational health and safety or environmental health or in any construction business as I'm well versed with construction.
The issue is that I will be living my family soon to go back, I was denied of a premium visa so now I think my sole option to be with them is to have a work permit.
Will appreciate any help in that line.
Thanks
Ian
