My wife is a Belgian citizen, and while we currently live in the US, we are planning to relocate to Belgium this year. We are in the process learning about the visa application and requirements to obtain a Family Reunification visa. I am a teacher, and would continue with my current US employer remotely in Belgium. Thanks!

Hello,
Please I have a question I recently renewed my F card Within the 5 days of my application to renew my F card I received a letter to receive another card in the commune but I was given F+ card permanent residence card for duration of 10 years but I was expecting to get nationality because I meet up all the requirements for nationality, Do I need to ask for nationality directly or I can start the application for nationality immediately because I am due for the citizenship with all the requirements, I have leaved in Belgium for more than 5 years already.
I need your advise

-@ridewitgab
Well, you could not expect nationality by 'nature' like that.
You 'initiated' the process of F card renewal and as a result, you got F+ so it is correct. You could not expect nationality as you did not ask for it!!!
Its up to you to come to the commune and demand a 'Nationality declaration'.
Indeed, they will check your eligibility and ask for all required documents and you "sign the declaration" in front of the Civil officer. Then, you will respect a time window of 4 to 6 months before getting an approval or refusal.
Its weird to me that you confirmed you met all requirement of nationality so it means that you know about it but you don't know how to proceed it.
@peterjohn1104 correct, I was thinking that during my renewal of my F card I will get the nationality directly..
Thanks for the information
