We have been living in the Centre Ville of Toulouse for 3 months. Our lease expires in September and we are considering Montpellier to live. We love Toulouse but since we're moving, are now open to Montpellier. I will visit the city 2 June for a long weekend. I welcome any advice for best areas to look for housing. It is just myself and my wife and we are recently retired. Thank you.
I am set to retire this year and we are excited to move to France. We will be moving to the south coast. Not the Riviera do to budget restraints. Looking forward to meet others in the area.

i want to go because my dad is sick and here in lebanon the salaries aren’t okay u can barely do anything.
I found a job in France but they don’t give visa sponsorship.
Hello Marsekopti,
Welcome on board !
Do you speak french ?
Finding an employer will be the best option. Can you provide some details on your qualifications and experience ?
Have a look at this practical Guide to know how you can move to France : Living in France guide for expats
Please be aware that for a non European, non french speaker it will be hard to move to France and land a job. Specially if one doesn't have skills that are in demand there.

@Julien I am very old with some on-going medical issues. I lived in France from 1994 until 2008 when I returned to the UK with the intention of returning to France as soon as I could. However due to various problems I remained in the UK during the time of self harm working with the Lib-Dems. The horrors of brexit caused me to stagnate. Suddenly the end of free movement and the deadline of being a French resident by the end of 2020 made me return to France and buy another house there. 🏠 I took possession on 17/12/2020, 2 weeks before the deadline. As, at the time, I could not live in it permanently for 6 months, my priority was security and I bought a townhouse in the centre of Nissan lez Enserune without a garden. Getting my 10 year Carte de Sejour was just a formality. Since then my time has not progressed due to medical problems including some dementia. I understand French fluently especially reading, but no longer speak it fluently due to loss of memory. It is hard to make people understand that I understand exactly what they are saying when I speak it badly. However I would be able to help anybody with their French bureaucracy, including importing of cars or 🏍. When I returned to the UK I was forced to register my van and my camping car in the UK. I sold the camping car but when I returned to France I had to re register it here. The fact that I purchased it in France and used it here for 6 years was irrelevant. I had to go through the procedure the same as if I had bought it in the UK. I am able to advise and help people in many other aspects of life in France. My furniture and old scooter had remained in expensive storage in Béziers as I never expected that I would be away for so long.
I moved here on my own and have not found any friends mostly because of my age. However I am active socially and belong to a number of associations including singing in a choir. I now know many people here but don't really consider them as friends. I had a bad experience with a group of English people who made me welcome only to change their minds later. One man had offered to be keyholder for my house only to change his mind later. So my main motive for joining the expat group is to hopefully find friends in the area and help them if I can. All nationalities welcome. I am well travelled and have visited 43 different countries. I have lived in different parts of the USA and have spent 2 years in Morocco. Although I am a Christian I understand and respect Islam.
I hope some of you may contact me either for help in any way or in an act of friendship. My name is Chris and my email is [link moderated]. I do have French and English telephone numbers but prefer to have initial contact by email. This is partly because I am unable to remember details in a phone conversation!
Wishing you all well. À bientôt
Chris Ward

A New Zealander, I have for over 20-years been working globally supporting humanitarian emergency and development programming, so very 'internationally displaced'. I am soon to visit France, with thoughts of staying there -or elsewhere in Europe- longer term.
Welcome to Europe! I live in France, just outside Paris. I have family all over, Germany, Spain, UK, Portugal, Australia. My brother lives in New Zealand. Would like to get in touch when you arrive in this fascinating continent of multiple facets.
Maybe soon ...
