Hi Everyone,
I am Becka,
I am an American that was relocated here for a job 23 years ago by a Dutch company and stayed.
Since then, I have become a (naturalized) Dutch citizen (keeping my American citizenship!), and a few years ago, I took an early retirement, so I am here ... for the duration.
AUB!
Welcome on board 🤗
Hope to see more post from you about your knowledge and experiences.
Hello guys,
I wanted to say hello to all the members here, particularly any expats and runners here in the Netherlands. I arrived here to give love a go and I ended up getting married with 3 awesome kids. I worked initially as a lecturer before moving into tech with my own startup. Anyway, I've been here in the Netherlands for a bit but wanted to broaden my network with expat.com.
Nice to meet you all. -M
I am from Egypt and I wish to live and work there in the hope that I will find a work contract in this place
Can someone help me with the ***
Reason : Contact details should not be posted on the forum. Thank you

hello,
I’m Wayne, English, planning to retire to NL to be with my partner of 12 years. We have an apartment in Rijswijk near Den Haag. I am applying for the verblijfsvergunning (residency) but I think I will have to remain a UK resident due to NL approach to foreign pension tax. This means I’ll have to limit the duration of my stays in NL which is sad for us.
I am busy learning the Dutch language and renovating out apartment.
I look forward to sharing and hearing of other expat’s experiences of coming to NL.
beste
Wayne

Hi all,
I’m a Dutch Resident and my British national partner is trying to move to the Netherlands. So far we’ve been applying to a multitude of jobs to get a company to sponsor but it seems almost impossible to get a work permit this way. It seems like you need a residence permit to get a work permit, but to get a work permit you need to be a resident. We’ve been looking into the option of me being a sponsor for him, but even though he’s making enough income, I’m the one who has to provide that. I’m still a student so obviously this isn’t an option either. Which just makes it very tedious to find a company willing to hire him. It’s so weird how British people were able to just move and work 2 years ago and now it’s impossible.
hello, I am Yusuf, I want to work in the Netherlands, I am an earthquake victim, it has a great effect on the job, please help me, thank you, best regards

Hiring foreign people is only possible if you have high skills that's hardly to find amongst the Dutch. Therefore the company needs to proof to the IND that the did all the needful to hire a Dutch employee but didn't succeed.
After all, the Dutch people comes first and if they don't are successful they can search abroad. Not every company can do that by the way.
As you already mentioned: since you are a student and assuming you're don't meet the financial requirements you can't support your partner in a financial way.
I know it can be hard but hopefully one day it works out 🤞
Yes, this is correct . I would like to work in the Netherlands but I know it is impossible so I don't care anymore
@hdijkstra2000
Hi,
Yes, seems like just yesterday, The UK was part of the EU.
Yes, like Primadonna said, a Dutch company can only hire a non-eu person if itś a scarce resource sort of job. This means they cannot find a Dutch or EU candidate to do the job. These jobs are mainly in the IT sector, although there are other positions out there .. just not that many.
I am American and was in IT, so that was how a Dutch company brought me over.
You said something odd, though. You said -
'We've been looking into the option of me being a sponsor for him, but even though he's making enough income, I'm the one who has to provide that.´
So what do you mean by 'even though he's making enough income'? Is he already working, or was this just a misstatement?
Hi All,
I will be at there soon, will drop the msg once I reach.
Till then, keep posting msgs here, we can build the nice community of friends here
Cheers,
Sohan

@Becka A. I agree with your opinion. This is what I meant, so I said that I am not interested, because I am from a country outside the European Union, and I hope to find my job in the Netherlands, but there is a priority that I respect for the Dutch in whatever work it is.😉
Hello all,

Hi everyone! So happy I found this thread!
My wife and I are moving to Rotterdam in the next few months from the US. She was recruited by a Dutch company, so thankfully I will be able to kind of piggyback off of her highly skilled migrant visa and permit, and won't have to obtain any further sponsorship.

I'm Chakit, and I've long harbored a dream of residing in the beautiful city of Amsterdam. While I'm currently uncertain about the specific path I want to pursue, I'm enthusiastically on the lookout for any opportunities that come my way. I hold a degree in engineering, and I'm excited to explore the possibilities that Amsterdam has to offer. If anyone has advice, suggestions, or insights about making a life in Amsterdam or finding opportunities in this dream city, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you!

-@abayo41
Yeah well, you did ask for the quickest, not the cheapest; you also didn't say where and when I checked your forum information it says you want to live in Portugal!
Anyway, in general, rental property in the Netherlands is always in short supply and thus always expensive, especially in tourist and student places.
