Morning

We applied online for our Retirement Visa and sent the ARCO certificate from the UK as we are South Africans living in UK for past 2 years, Now they have come back and said they want the certificate from South Africa.  Unfortunately, my Partner was caught with drinking and driving about 25 years ago.  Is this going to be a problem as we have already booked our flights and BnB.  Will they deny the application based on something that happened over 25 years ago.  I am now stressing.  Please guide me on this.

It will not be a problem as it is not considered as a serious offence in Mauritius although it appears on the certificate of character.

This is a trivial issue for them. The EDB are looking for real criminals. If it was more than 10 years ago, it may not even be on there anymore. Don't fret. Everything will be ok. ***. Good luck.

@traciwoodley Good morning this should not be an issue , your name clean after 5 years .

Problem though is that it tickets awhile to get your police clearance in SA , always backlogs or some excuse.

Find an agency to assist , much more expensive but it gets sorted out much quicker

Good luck further

@traciwoodley It could well be on the clearance cert as on checking my clearance the opening statement is

"This is to certify that no convictions have been recorded for any crime in the Republic of South Africa against:-"

If your partner was convicted it could well be recorded, however I doubt that they would have too much of an issue given the timing. I used lawyers in SA, they were extremely quick and organized.  If you require their contact details feel free to DM me

Unfortunately as the certificate is older than 6 months, they are not accepting it.
