Hello Expats...

I arrived in Belgium on 25 January 2023 with my single permit from India.  I have a one-year contract with a leading logistics company through a Belgian consultant and am staying in a company-provided house in Antwerp.

Why am I creating this forum, there is still no appointment in the local commune Antwerp to join the job, and no salary for this month.

The problem is running out of money brought from India.

How can I access a Belgium consultant for my needs?  And I don't know the EU process on this issue either.  Please help me to get an idea about the situation faced in Belgium.

Thank you in advance for your time and feedback.

Regards & Thanks,

Selvaraj Muthukumar.

@smuthu Dear from the webiste of commune check the police email address and send an email that you are waiting for them for visit also attach the document you got from commune at the time of registration. Keep in mind the email should be translated in french or dutch (I am not sure which language is preferred in your area). You can use google translator. This is the best process lot of people did and got succeeded. Hope this will work for you as well. Best Wishes

Hello Selvaraj Muthukumar,

It will take a while to get an appointment from the Antwerp Commune.

In the meantime, you can apply to open a Bank account at BNP Paribas Fortis, they will open an expat account for you with your passport and annexe documents.

It will take about 2 to 3 weeks until you have a new account and the card. You can then share your bank account details with your employer and start having your salary.

Best Regards,

Hi Selva,

I faced similar situation with bank account creation and appointment with Commune so I can understand your situation.

I tried different banks ,but getting appointments with banks and trying opening expat account was also difficult with some banks like BNP Paribas and ING. And I opened expat bank account in KBC which is easy and they responded fast and was able to get salary in it.

So you can try KBC expat account opening and they will need some documents like passport and Indian PAN number and once you get your Belgian National if you can update with them later and it will be changed to normal Belgian saving account.

For Commune appointment, better to call commune on their number and talk to the immigration department and explain your situation they will be able to guide you and ask you to update info online and then they will initiate process for house verification and  appointment for RP card at earliest.

Hope this helps .
