Need new stamp for L-1B visa

Hi All,

Sorry, i initially posted this message in French, and realized afterwards, i would've better posted it in English. Here it is ....

I have been on assignment in NY State since September 2021, with my family for 3 years under L-1B. The end date of my petition is August 2024.

However, due to the reciprocity changes with France that occurred in 2019, the validity period of the visa (entry to the USA) is 17 months, and mine is therefore no longer valid since the end of January 2023.

Please note, I am talking about the visa, which is necessary to enter the United States and not my L-1B status or my authorization to work, which remain valid until August 2024.

The problem is that I have to return to France urgently for personal reasons, and in the current situation, I would not be authorized to return to the United States, because of my expired visa.

I was told that I had to make an appointment at the US consulate in Paris to obtain a new stamp, which will renew the 17-month reciprocity period with multiple entries into the American territory.

I don't really know the process to get a new stamp, and I'm a little worried about returning to France, leaving my family here, if the validation of this new stamp presents any risk of denial, in which case I would be separated from my family and unable to continue working.

Has anyone on the forum ever been in this situation, please, where the 17 months of visa reciprocity with France expired before the end of L-1 status?

Thank you in advance for your help and for your answers.

Eric.
