Belgium vacation days

Hi everyone,

I was thinking about moving to Belgium from another European country.

I am pretty shocked about this ridiculous holiday system in place.

When I start working in July, then I cannot take any vacation days for the rest of the year. And in 2024 I only have 10 days of vacation?!

How should I visit my family back home without any vacation days?

What are my options here?

Hi,

Option 1 ask your new boss to give you some days off. Of course you don't get paid for these days. It is called holiday without pay.

Option 2 don't come to work here, lol

I would be suggested holidays without pay and I wont see it rediculous as how would I take pay holidays that I have not accumulated for? What if I just take paid holidays and quit?
