Welcome!  Home financing in Brazil is an extremely complicated topic, without nearly as many supports and incentives as exist in the United States.  Bank loans are difficult to obtain, interest rates are high, and terms are short.  Most home financing takes place through alternate channels rather than through the Brazilian equivalent of mortgages.  Unless you already have a lot of experience in Brazil and speak good Portuguese, you'll want to rent for a while, get settled, and feel confident about understanding how the financial system and the housing market in your target area work before looking for any serious indebtedness.

Thanks, good information.

Have you heard of some people ever rent-to-own? Or consider monthly payments toward the purchase of a home?

I've never heard of that before.  I suppose that it wouldn't be impossible, but inflation would probably make it unattractive to a seller.
