Post-Covid-19 situation in Qatar

Covid is not gone from our life, it

is still there but people became more careless, inside the public places especially in mosque it musr be compulsory for people to make use of mask as they keep on sneezing coughing and who knows they are carrying the virus and may spread to all. Inside Public transport system wearing a mask must be mandatory too. I dont know why government has removed all measures. All over the world covid cases are again on the rise and strict measures must be taken to avoid spread of virus.

It used to be rather strict here compared to the UK (where I am from). Tracking App required, Vaccination  almost compulsory, testing for travelling etc.

Then covid "disappeared" the minute the World Cup started. After months and months of restriction, this felt utterly liberating. It was also quite a relief not to see a massive wave of covid cases in January 2023, as many had feared.  There are still cases, but cases seem less serious, and people affected are back on track pretty quickly. 

As a matter of fact, I currently have covid for the second time, and it feels like having a nasty cold or a not-so-bad case of flu. It is not as bad as my first time around (January 2022), which was already milder than the 2020 version, from what I hear. I will be ok to fly out for holiday on Friday morning as the quarantine is now only 5 days, with no re-testing required. I will wear a mask out of consideration to others in the airport and airplane, just in case.

The only place we must wear masks is in healthcare facilities, which makes total sense! However, I saw many people going around unmasked and unchallenged when I went for my swab on Sunday morning (I did a home test but I needed confirmation from the clinic for my sick leave).

As people predicted, it is becoming "one of these things" that are annoying in our lives but that doesn't stop most people from leading a regular day to day life.
