Relocating to Mauritius

Post new topic

qcarelsen

Hi. Me and my wife with 2 kids are looking to relocate to Mauritius from the UK. I have got a British passport and my wife has got a European passport, the kids has got both. Me and my wife are directors of a well established company here. We will be getting a salary every month which will completely cover our expenses in Mauritius. We have looked at the occupational permit but that states we have to work for a company in Mauritius which we don't need, also looked at going the self employed route but that also doesn't look like it will work. We are looking to relocate for a better future for our kids. Any help will be much appreciated.

Looks like the Premium Visa is an obvious solution for you.

Alternatively , you could purchase property " eligible to foreigners " for a minimum of $ 375 000 and that would qualify you and your family for a 10 year residence permit that is renewable at the end of the10 year period.

Thanks. With the premium visa is my family aloud to come over and is there any restrictions in time we have to spend there, I know it expires after a year

There's the retirement visa (10 yrs residency), but depend on your age, one of you needs to be older that 50....

Both of you can come on the Premium Visa for each probably. If you do wish to settle or work long term, you could invest in property as mentioned above, which will give you many advantages especially the residence permit as long as you have the property. Retirement visa is much cheaper but has restrictions regarding work.

Have you checked the EDB website and asked questions there? You could establish a company in Mauritius too and probably get an investor visa. Try and employ some locals and add to the local job market and economy.

I think the best option is to invest in a property if you can afford it.

I know someone who sells IRS and RES projects**** or ****house is accompanied by a residence permit which allows you to stay in Mauritius as long as you own the property.

You are not limited propertywise to go for an IRS or RES project which are way more expensive, you can easily barge your PR with a G+2 project which are usually much cheaper options at 375,000$ instead of nearly twice for a PDS. ***

Whichever way you go, make sure you check out the tax implications so you don't end up paying tax here & UK.
