My advice is to start in a short-term let (something like Airbnb), then look for something more long-term once you have arrived.

Just to add; Amsterdam is very expensive. The further east you can live the more you'll get for your Euro.

There is no formal "less expensive accommodation". Based on what you've told us, probably the best place to look is Google; this link will take you to a search I just ran asking your question.
