Work on FRV or Blue Card? The better option

Post new topic

Hi Members!!

Hope all are well and in good health. A query for the esteemed members-

My spouse came to Germany on a FRV with myself on Blue Card. Now she has been hired and will be joining shortly ,also her salary bracket qualifies her for a Blue Card.

1. Which is  the recommended path?  Apply for Blue Card or continue on FRV?

2.What are the pros and cons for both ( Example -tax slabs, govt benefits and so on)

3.We are planning to settle down in Germany hence will apply for PR once eligible as per  mandatory timelines for stay

Will be highly obliged for insights and recommendations

Stay Safe!!

Thanks & Regards

The visa status makes no difference as for taxation, almost none for government benefits.

I am not sure if there is a difference for the timelines after which you can get a permanent residency ("Niederlassungserlaubnis") - ask you local "Ausländeramt" about it!

But altogeher, I think your own wishes (and how comfortable you are with the additional buerocratic workload  needed for any change of status) should be the determining factor. I personally won't bother!
