does anyone know when there might be another amnesty for irregular foreingers?

Bolsonaro vetoed the last one but now Lula is back maybe there will be another?

thanks

04/10/23 @chopthebench. I wouldn't count on Lula's administration being any friendlier to overstays than Bolsonaro's was; this administration has announced that it's restoring the visa requirements for Australia, Canada, Japan, and the US that Bolsonaro relaxed, after all. And Bolsonaro's party now has the biggest bloc in the Chamber of Deputies, so I don't see much pressure for relaxation in either branch of government.

At some point, someone in the Justice Ministry is going to notice that the R$10,000 cap on fines has lost some of its deterrent effect and perhaps should be raised, but their attention is on much weightier matters right now.

@abthree Yes maybe.

Lula had 2 amnesties previously and it was bolsonaro who upped the fine from 8 reais a day to 100.

Id also be very interested to hear from anyone who got residency after one of Lulas amnesties.

thanks for the relply

Lula's amnesties were before my time.

The fine was raised to the present rate, however by the current Lei da Migração (Lei 13.445/17), signed May 24, 2017, published May 25, 2017, effective November 25, 2017, under Michel Temer.

@abthree  yes my mistake it wasn't Bolsonaro who increased it.   I remember now.
