My husband and I went to the police station in Irbid yesterday, which by the by is ALL the way out in East Jesus (illogical) and it took us 2 hours and running back and forth just to get me cleared until Nov 8 when I have to fill again apparently and this time for 1 year residency to be renewed yearly Ahhh bureaucracy!!
There is always short cuts in our life , and your husbend know this he can solve it in easy way
Regards
Dear SherriO I'm sorry to tell you that's because you don't have good connections inside the immigration office , everything in jordan works by your connections otherwise u will wait a lot
Regards
Right Strong, its because Arab society works on wasita and your governments work on bribes. I dunno how many different people we had to pay or whatever just to get our marriage documents in order, let alone apply for citizenship. Sherri and I are used to a more fair system I'm afraid.
No need to be afraid its so easy and we do it many times just send me your documents number and where is it now and I will help u
I wonder if it is easier or possible to secure your in your country of origin Before arriving in Jordan?????
SherriO wrote:So true Strong, we did not find our "connection" until our last stop. Not a lot of people in this area have experience with immigrating TO Jordan, because most people are trying to get the heck out, not my situation:)
Bahaha so true Sher People here keep asking my husband if he married me so he could get a US visa and leave, and people back in the states kept telling me to make sure that wasn't the case! LOL
To all of you. To live outside amman its hard to live there such like irbed or ramtha. Any way I'm still ready to help in anything in jordan and I have good connections in amman
Hi I am Jeannette 50, and currently dating a 35 year old Jordanian. He wants to marry me. He said he want me to go to Jordan, and marry him but I am scared that they will not allow me to come back to Puerto Rico (US territory)were I live. He also said he has told his parents and all brothers of his intentions to marry me. they know I am divorced and with a grown up child (17 year old boy. I am an American citizen and I do not wish to loose my Citizenship, and I will not live there, I want to marry but bring him back with me. Also I saw there is a form from US Embassy where you can petition a alien fiance, how true is all this and how scare should I be if I visit Jordan just to marry him and get back? Also,I am a Catholic and do not mind much turning into his religion if I have to but I will not stay to live on Jordan. I have a good steady job here. Can someone ease my nerves, amd tell me is allright to marry him and get back without much hassle???
Thanks,
Jeannette

Hey Strong 79:
Just spoke today with a lady who works at an Airline company. She got married with a Lebanon man, the moment he stepped into US, he vanished.... She also told me this is the modo of many young Jordanian men, get hooked with older woman, telling them they are so in love with them, so the lady gets them to US and then leave them.... what do you know about this?
Hi SherriO:
I am convincing him to come over here getting a tourist visa. And If I decided to go, which it will not happen until the end of 2012, and he cannot wait for me, then I will know that all his words of profound love are BS. So I guess time will tell... he keeps saying he will wait an eternity for me since he already gave his heart to me and that he swear over his Covenant that he will marry me and be my husband for ever..... so..... does he sound truthful? yes to me, but I do not know him well... so far we had a small argument to which I insulted him.... and he wrote me the most beautiful email, without insults and in a very mature way.... neither to say I felt horrible. He even said he will work very hard to send me the money so I can go to him.... so I guess the soap opera will continue and I will let you know....
Dear Jeanny0426
The lebanese man story is very popular, (they are generally famous all over the globe with their ways of reaching their targets).
About Jordanian man, usually families are not letting them marry foreigners( even if the age and adduction and profession are perfect) for them all western women are bad by nature.
it is 2 chances to million to be successful on this issue, but still there's a chance.
Soap opera might last years , taking your time out of your life.
i would not waist time on it, because most probably the trick is all about getting to US with you , then the lebanese variant of the story might appear.
But if you feel like to try work it out, then go ahead!
Best of luck for you!
Dear jeanny it happens before but no body can know better than you , you know if he want you or not cos you are the one who love him , but their is a lot of American woman married in jordan and happy , I hope u got the point .
Regards
Dear sulamf , thanks for sharing us your experience but you can add for it that what you are saying about their family dosnt accept foreigners this is right but before 10 years but now its ok and Jordanian men have their own choice ,maybe you said this cos u still new in jordan anyway thanks
Dear strong,
i thought i mentioned that there's always possibility to be married with jordanian man:)
And i guess 6 years of being in this country is not being NEW any longer in here.
the reason i am writing this message is because the statistics are talking loudly assuming how many has been successful. (i'm glad for the once who did and did not regretted )
Well, a question appears:- Are you jordanian man?
or if not, then, -did you ever try to marry a jordanian man?
About 10 years ago, and right now all is fine... well... no comments. i guess you have a bit incorrect info regarding the subject.
kind regards
Wow and I am getting more confused by the second... Can someone give me the real deal please???
Thanks!!!!
Hi SheeriO:
Here is the thing. I am 50 he is 35. I am American citizen by default; I am Puertorican, (live in the Island of Puerto Rico, the Caribbean - US Territory). He says he does not care about my age, that he find me beautiful and young
.. He said he swears on his House Covenant that he will never leave me and that he loves me with all his heart and soul
. We have spoken over Yahoo Cam and Skype, and he looks sincere
. I fought with him once I guess taunting him to see how far he would go
I did offend him
. And he stayed peaceful, and he wrote me an email that I almost cry
. So mature, honest and open
. I felt so rotten inside after.
Anyway, the thing is, I do not plan to stay in Jordan, I have to live where I am now
. He said he did not care
and He speaks about the huge party he will prepare for our wedding, the house he would rent for us after the marriage so we can consummate our marriage
. The ring he wants to buy me
. He seems to be a very hard working guy
. Still I feel I do not know him enough
I cannot plan a trip this year over there; I have my sons graduation this year
. And I told him and he said he would wait forever for me
. So bottom line I am not sure if I ever will go there
I like him so much he seems so sweet and good, and intelligent
. I do not know what will happen really
and then I do not know if I ever make it to Jordan, what can happen to me? If I decide to marry him
what kind of documents I need? I heard he cannot come back with me since they need a special visa that can take a whole year
.. I have so many doubts and mixed information
.
I wish I could know for sure the does and donts of that Country
.. I really wish I could be with him
..
By the way, thank you for your messages with information and support. I really appreciate them
.
Regards,
Jeannette

You can't generalize about any people like that.I am American, married my husband (Jordanian)8 yrs ago.He never wanted to leave Jordan,he had a thriving business here at the time. And I certainly did not either. He has an older brother who married a woman from Russia--23 years ago!Families are different all over the world. My husbands family didn't care WHERE I was from,as long as I was a good woman with a loving heart who would treat their son and brother well. And they are the FIRST to council HIM if he and I ever have an argument! We did live in the US for a short time..but missed the family so much,we came back to Jordan.I love it here and never want to leave. There are good and bad people in every country. And marriage,I don't care where a person is born,or what culture they grew up in,is never a cake walk.Marriage is WORK.There are ups and down's in every marriage..all over the world.Peace~

Ok.Then go to him and be damned with what anyone else says.He knows your age,so obviously he's not marrying you to have a wife to have children with.I married my husband when I was(he's Jordanian)42 and he was 30!(Been married 8yrs now) When I was telling my American friends I was going to Jordan to marry him..it seemed like I had a thousand voices screaming at me not to marry him.I knew in my HEART that it was the right thing, and ignored them.I don't know of any marriage anywhere that is a 'cake walk'.Even the most loving couples have disagreements. But trust me,if he is marrying you just to 'come to the US'...lol,the immigration process in the US is so complicated,so intense,so long and drawn out,so EXPENSIVE..it's not like he's going to marry you and become an 'instant American'.Jordan might as well be an American State. It is THE most Westernized country in Arabia.Good luck.
Thank you umhalil for your words of support... Still I do not know when I can go there or if he could come to me at least for visit.... I am very confused about how things work there in Jordan. He keeps telling me even though his family follow traditions that they also understand the new era of things... He seems to be very much in love..... But I have been deceived before by others (not Jordanians) so I guess time will tell.... I f he really loves me he will have to wait.... Again thanks for your support. I really appreciates it...

Oh honey.I am your age,and trust me,we all have at some times in our lives been horribly decieved by people.Especially men.Men will say and do anything to bed a woman. What changed for me was when I started telling the men that were in hot persuit of me,that I "don't have sex before marriage"..lol..never seen the back of a man running from me so fast after they had sworn their love for me! lol Test him.He should get a visit visa and make the effort to come to YOU.No sex though. Not until that ring is on your finger baby! He's 35.He's a grown man.He should know how he can get a visa for a visit to where you are.Make him WORK for your hand! For me,I knew one of my hubby's relatives who lived in the States. Then his mother came over to meet me.Then a few months later, his father came over to meet me.They approved of me,I approved of them.I talked to him on the phone..talked to everyone who knew him..what his personality was like etc.And because I knew it was right in my heart.I just wasn't meeting the qualities that I wanted in a man in the States. That's the Only reason my interest was peeked when his relatives started telling me about him.He didn't want a young wife because he know's how SOME young Jordanian women are.Very clingy..and he didn't want anyone to try to "cage" him.Back to what I said before.,TEST him! Make him jump through hoops for you.If he wants a good wife,he will gladly jump through those hoops.Have him stay at a friends home or something.Have him come with one of his parents or siblings.(That way you can get an idea of what his family is like...because family is Everything in Jordanian culture). Please keep me posted on this.I pray that he is for real and that you find happiness and a fullness of love with him.I live in Jordan btw.If he breaks your heart..I can kick his arse for you if you like. (Just kidding.I'd have my husband do it!)Much love~umhalil
Well umhalil:
I will tell him about the visit visa, but I am not sure he knows anyone in Puerto Rico. He might bring that as an obsticle? But I guess you are right. I will tell him that if he really loves me like he does say, he will have to come to me first. And if he play with me... I will be glad to give you his name so you hubby tell him a thing or two... hahahahahahaha!!! He is sweet the guy I do not know, sometimes it makes me feel he is too naive... he is number 7 of 10 brothers and sisters... he works at his brothers restaurant... and if its true what he tells me... he works 7 days and with only a few hours to sleep, eat, pray and back to work.... he says he feels so lonely and scared that he will lose me... Oh welll soon enough I will find out and see what he has to say about getting a visit visa.... I promise to keep you inform... and thank you so much for your interest and support, I surely appreciate it.
Regards,
Jeannette
I meant a friend of yours where you live.Of course I don't think he knows anyone else but you there. He works seven days a week..has he saved any money to get married?Have you even asked him that? Does he have his own home?
What I mean is,has he prepared himself to be married?Savings etc.If he is Muslim, when the marriage contract is made, you are able to ask for a dowry, and he MUST pay it.Certainly if things don't work out and you two divorce.Gold, furniture,a certain amount of money etc. Best of luck to you.I love hearing love stories,so I really pray for your sake that this works out for you and he is truly a good, honest man.Salam~umhalil

That's really hilarious because I know a lot of American's trying to get out of America! Don't know if you've moved yet,but I have the name and number of a good vet in Irbid. Her name is Isra Soultan and her number is 0796248262. She is located near the Arabella Mall.I'm taking my Egyptian Mau kitten there very soon.(Insha Allah)
Jeanny0426 , was wondering how it all went for you since your post. I'm in a similar situation. I met a Jordanian man age 44, divorced from a UK women, and we have been talking and skyping for months now. He's 44 and I'm 46, my kids are grown and I've decided its time for me to enjoy the rest of my life. He seems so wonderful and I'm ready to marry again. He comes from a very strong family background, he's muslim and it just seems that he's very sincere with me, he's even teaching me how to speak arabic. I guess I'm just scared of what I'm not sure yet.. or if there's anyone out there that can give me advice or share their experience.
thanks
